PCM/ECM HELP!!!!
Does anyone know of any issues if I use a f250 with a 5.8 in my f150 with a 5.8? My truck had a 5.0 with an AOD now it will have a 5.8 with an AOD, was told could use one for a 5.8 with either a C6 or a standard transmission... truck is a 1993
Thanks
You did not give years other then the 1993 that it is going in.
A 1993 5.8L and older will work together (push start Computers).
And a 1994 5.8L and newer will work together (CCD Computers).
Then the Computer will have to have the same emission setup (number of solenoids) to pass the KOER self-test.
Also a matching engine wiring harness and speedometer setup.
5.8 was never coupled with the AOD or the AODE/4R70W in F series trucks although you can bolt them together using a flex plate out of one of the 80's full size cars that did use this combination. Engine balance issue.
ECM is a headache if you have the electronic shifted transmission. Ford only supported 5.8/E4OD in F series trucks and you cannot control an AODE/4R70W with an E4OD ECM. You could use an aftermarket transmission controller, but that will get costly.
