I think I made my decision, for me it was pretty simple since I laid out the coin for an extended warranty - going to go with the Ford additive.
Thanks to all that contributed, truly appreciate your knowledge and experience. Exactly what keeps me coming back
I think that it is a good idea to run with a oil additive. Good insurance, if nothing else. And I think that it helps lube the high press fuel pump. I only us the Ford stuff.
A very good fuel additive and the one I use and recommend when I question the quality of the fuel is TDR-FL (Temperate Climate) or TDR-WDA (Cold Climate) by Amalgamated, Inc. Its a very good everything in one (Cetane boost, Lubricity, Detergents, Stabilizers and Combustion Improvers). This product is historically used by Fleets but is currently available to the public in smaller packaging for the consumer. And no I am not affiliated in any way with this company.
May I ask where you buy TDR-FL/WDA? I just bought my first 6.7 diesel and I want to make sure I take care of this engine.

TDR is only available online from the Amalgamated web site. I have heard good things about TDR-FL from other diesel forums and have been interested in trying it myself as I am out of Opti=Lube Summer Plus. I need to order a gallon of something.
TDR-S : Amalgamated, Inc. Using any fuel additive that addresses lubricity, detergents and cetane you cant go wrong. I recommend going with an additive that is readily available in your area. Diesel Kleen is an excellent additive for the cost
How much do you put in your tank and how often? I see it comes in a six pack of qts and gallons... Thanks
Every tank at a rate of 3 oz's per 10 gallons per the web site or about 6 oz per tank. That dose rate is the one thing that keeps me from ordering it as Opti-Lube Summer Plus is only 1-2 oz per tank. If you are using Opti-Lube XPD with its higher treat rate of 13 oz per tank, the TDS-FL dose should be no problem.

Thank you , this is my first diesel and it is important to me to maintain this truck using preventative maintenance.. thank you again

I started research the day I decided I was going to get a diesel. By the time my 2015 Powerstroke arrived, I already had a gallon with pump/bottles of Opti-Lube Summer Plus. The dealer tank is is only one without. Between 3-4,000 miles I started using AR6200 in addition and, at 42,000, replaced AR6200 with Enerburn.

If the dose rate is 3oz/10gal, then why are you only adding 6oz/tank? I could see that if you were timing your fill-ups to approx 20 gallons.

Because I don't want to risk going to 26 gallons and not being close enough to a diesel pump to coast in. Actually, I typically fill about 15 gallons and adjust additives accordingly. Some additives talked dose per tank and other dose per 10 gal, so I just kinda of rounded it off. Dose per 10 gallons makes more sense since not all tanks are the same size.
Am I reading the description of the TDR-WDA correctly? Does the WDA have the same content and perform the same as the TDR-FL but with the added benefit that the WDA contains an anti-gelling component? If so, why not just run the WDA all year long?
I also see the WDA is just a little bit cheaper than the FL.
Second question is the Power Service products seem to read that to get the 5-7 cetane jump they must be added at twice the lowest ratio (6.4oz/10gal vice 3.2oz/10gal). Am I reading this correctly? If so, it makes the Amalgamated products a good buy.

TDR-WDA requires higher doses to concentrate the anti-gel so it would cost more as you would use up the gallon about 30% faster. I don't know why you would bother with WDA all year long for, here in Vermont, the 20 days I needed it. The Power Service, if the same formula tested in 2007, doesn't have much lubricity.
Just to clarify, TDR-FL is 3 oz per 10 gal vs 4 oz per 10 gal with WDA to get the same cetane boost plus an anti-gel you rarely need unless you live in ND or MN.
I bought a 8 oz six pack of Opti-Lube Winter 3 years ago and still have 2 bottles left as I only use it when it is going below 10*. So you should actually run TDR-FL all year and add any off the shelf anti-gel when weather warrants.

PowerService redid there their formula in 2007. I Remember them pulling all the product off the shelf and it was a couple of weeks before new product was returned.
I remember asking the department manager about why it was gone and his response was that he had gotten written instructions to remove all PS products from the shelf and when it returned it had new packaging.
Since there has not been a complete test done since that time, There are no results to compare to see if the new formula corrected their previous faults

Good info and the first I heard of it. I suspect that the test prompted them to add lubricity to the product.
Archoil recently changed AR6200 to add more lubricity and I don't understand it as I saw a test that showed it as having more than anyone else with a tested wear scar of 200. The jury is still out on that. Since I've switched to Enerburn in my diesel, it doesn't affect me much (stil use it with gas engines), but I like to stay informed.
