Talked to a friend that has a 2014 F-250 23,000 miles and unfortunately he got some bad fuel which completely destroyed his HPP (high pressure pump) and other fuel system components I think it also took out the injectors. It is my understanding that Ford does not cover this under warranty due to the dirty fuel causing the system to fail and not being a failure that is a Ford part issue from the factory. Is this thinking correct and can anything be done?
Sorry guys wrong thread could someone move this please.
He can try to get his insurance company to cover all or some of the repair, or try and go after the station he got the fuel from if he can prove he got it from there or what may happen if the insurance pays they may go after the station. I think there are some people that have gotten their insurance companies to pay in the 6.7 forum kinda depends on your coverage. It's either try that or get ready to fork over some serious cash.
Take this for what it is, I was told by a salesman when I was looking at new trucks that Ford will not warranty the HPFP and fuel system. Ford cannot control the quality of fuel once the truck leaves the lot.
I had my truck in for an oil change and I was talking to a diesel tech who just finished working on one. He said its all too common when the fuel system is neglected. Its all in filter changes and draining the water/fuel separator every 3-4 weeks.
Now the best bet is make an insurance claim after the station where he got the suspect fuel from and go from there.
