I added aftermarket chrome window trim. My truck came factory with th
e chrome package. Just wondering if the aftermarket trim was too much? I wanted To add the factory OEM trim like on the Plat or King Ranch but the OEM trim was $$$$$.
You'll get two opinions here, "chrome it up till it blinds you" or "say no to chrome".
Personally, I think chrome is gaudy, so no, I don't like it. But that's just my stance on chrome in general. What matters is if you like, and if so, then rock it!
I really like the subtle accent and it adds a very nice touch IMHO, but it looks like it is only attached to the side of the trim and not a full coverage type of piece. If that's true then how to you think it will hold up over time?
You should get a few years out of it if the surface was prepared properly, but the adhesive will still fail. Be careful when you wash it, everything is going to try to snag a corner and lift it off.
Thats what worries me. I'm not a fan of anything 3m for that reason. Right now it's stuck pretty darn good especially with this Texas Sun. They said they would warranty it lifetime so I guess if it peels off I can just get a new piece.

Truck looks great...I like chrome in moderation along with some slightly larger tires and even a leveling kit. My truck came with the chrome package and that's enough for me!

Do you have a part number # or link to the chrome trim. I think it looks great.

It's not cheap plastic like the Putco brand however I only paid $76 not sure why the price has changed.
The thing that gets me is that auto manufacturers are charging top dollar for plastic of a deferent color. That is mostly all you're getting when you ask for the chrome package. Ya, it looks all shiny and sparkly but all it really is is shiny plastic vs. color matched or black plastic. The mirrors on an SD truck are the same shape and size regardless of the color cap of the plastic top trim. Same with the tow hooks, they are the same hooks one is chromed one is powder coated... to me, it's not worth the extra money for the chrome.
