h20camper, just curious where you purchased these from. I entered the part # [vfl3z-5420049-m] on Tasca Ford website and it said it wouldn't fit my "17 STX.

I’m selling my platinum window trim pieces. Truck is 2 weeks old. I pulled them off tonight. They are in great shape and none of the pieces were bent or damaged and all clips are intact. There is a plastic loop piece on the bottom of each of the front door trim that broke off but they do not impact how the trim pieces are held in place so I think they are a non issue. (See attached pics) selling as is. I wrapped them and put them back in the boxes I received my lariat trim moldings in.

asking $250 plus shipping (same price I paid for the non chrome ones)

It helps if your kids are asking you 100 different questions and the wife is yelling that dinner is ready! J/k

Leverage is your friend trying to pop the clips up but your enemy trying not to break the pieces. I slowly pulled up from the ends were the screws were and work hands underneath the peace as you go away from the screw and you’ll feel everything just pop And the piece will come right out.

One thing I didn’t do on the driver side which I should have was put painters tape over the door pillar the first 4 inches or so. I got a little glue residue from the piece where there is a piece of 3M or something on inside and it smudgd the pillar. I did it in the passenger side and was perfect. The tape will also protect it Incase you hit it when pulling the old molding piece off. Don’t want to scratch that.

hope that helps

After reading through the above posts, I am a little confused. Is the Putco trim "VFL3Z-5420049-M" what is installed from the factory on the Platinum trucks or are the factory chrome sill pieces permanently attached and different? I see some people removing their entire sills to remove it and am wondering if it would be a better route to install the OEM sill plates or install the Putco 3m tape parts when adding chrome trim to my truck. Thanks!

The factory Platinum and King Ranch trim is built in to the window belt molding on each side. The Putco trim just adheres to the factory black trim with 3M tape.

I would install the factory belt moldings for the best fit and appearance, but they are pricey, probably $400+ for a set.

I have had a set of the Putco trim for the last year but can't bring myself to install them just yet. I like the chrome look, I am not a fan of the chrome aftermarket look in most cases.

I vote for the Putco. They look better and cover better. Also, much less expensive.
