Haven't been on in ages. But my super cooling radiator finally kicked the bucket today, and I am moving next week and need my truck running!
It had been leaking a few drops here and there for the last 6 years or so but I never replaced it cause it the original brass one and seems like all the replacements have plastic tanks these days. It would only leak if it sat for a few days, but if you got it hot it would stir up some rust (or something, haha) and clog the hole for a couple days. It progressively got ever so slighlty worse over the last 6 years until a couple months ago.
Then over the past couple months it had been getting much worse. I think something was wrong with my thermostat and/or cap which was causing it to build up pressure, and I fear it may have blown out whatever corrosion was keeping it from leaking. I replaced the thermo and cap and thought id be ok but the leak was even worse. After a week of careful topping off it finally blew out and wont hold liquid for more than a few hours.
Id like to have it rebuilt, but something tells me that wont happen in 5 days. So I got a standard size one coming in tomorrow from AZ in a pinch.
I know the fan shroud is different, but realized Im not sure if the transmission cooling lines will align, and Im sure at least one of the hoses wont fit. But then I started to wonder if this will even bolt up?

1973/78 F100/350: TWO different radiator supports with round headlamps. The Super Cooling radiator support has a larger opening radius.
D3TZ-8005-G .. Super Cooling Radiator - 26 1/4" wide x 24 11/16" high with 2 5/8" thick core.
1973/76 F100/350 360/390; 1973/77 F100/350 460; 1977 F100/350 351M/400 before serial number Y80,001.
I haven't found a supercooling rad new for a few years now, my local guy can recore one, but we can't seem to find a new one. I am glad I have 2 and maybe three and the big tanks to another from a new core. I bought a "high efficiency" a few years ago from checker orielly, it cooled very good, rows were closer together and more of them, but was small, not much capacity, I like the super, simply because if I lose a hose, or spring a leak, I have lots of coolant. Those smaller ones are empty before you know it.
I bought a replacement for my 77 superCooler from AutoZone. It works fine, it mounted perfectly, shroud fit perfectly, and transmission lines fit perfectly. Only thing I had to do was transfer the flare fittings from the old radiator. It doesn't hold quite as much, but cools the truck fine, even at 110 degrees in downtown Mexicali traffic
Performance Radiator still makes our four core supercooling brass and copper radiator, in all its glory. They're about $600
Where is it leaking? It may be quickly repairable.
If one or two tubes are "holed" they can be pinched off on either side of the leak as emergency repair. Or if it is a small tank leak clean well, sand and JB weld often holds up.
The above are short term repairs but may get you by.
My truck has a super cooling radiator support, with what looks like a standard truck radiator, or one from a car. The rad is mounted to the passenger side of the support, with a gap on the driver side.

It look like its leaking where the top tank meets the core, and its a large leak. Dont think it will be easily "quick fixed"

By larger opening radius do you mean the area open to the radiator? or the width of the mount? They all seem to be the same width (26 1/4").

Interesting, I guess they are different widths? guess Ill find out when I put the standard size one up to the mount.

They dont seem to sell this one anymore, Napa can get one, but it has plastic tanks, and a bunch of folks have complained about the aluminum plastic joints leaking.

Ok, I swapped for a standard size, and am posting pics for anyone that might try this in the future. I mounted the new radiator to where my AC condenser once was.
Spectra "Premium" C132 radiator will bolt right into the Super cooling radiator support if you dont have the AC condenser installed. I had removed it some time ago. I am not sure if these mounting points exist on models without AC but with supercooling (if that is even a thing).
Got new radiator at AZ for $240: , and dont be fooled by the picture of the brass and copper rad, it is aluminum core with plastic tanks
I snuck the standard size radiator in between the support for the super cooling rad. Its tight but it does just barley clear. Also, my auto trans cooling lines did bolt up, but I had to snag the adaptors from the old rad. And the lines are a little flexed and touching each other, so I should probably put something in between them so they dont rub each other.
I posted some pics below: And be nice about the new radiator fins, if you look at those aluminum fins wrong they bend >..< . This whole job would be exponentially easier with a buddy (and a six pack) to hold the radiator in place while you throw the bolts in.
Hopefully this is just a temporary fix, and Ill replace with a performance radiator when I have $500 burning a hole in my pocket.
Showing old supercooling radiator mounting from top looking toward back of truck. You can see the super cooling rad mounting bolts (red), and the mounting bolts for the ac condenser (blue) where the new standard size radiator will bolt up to.
showing old supercooling rad mounting (ignore my feeble attempt to solder the breach in the tank to core, I couldnt see that the tubes right below it were corroded out.)
new standard size radiator (C132) mounted where the AC condenser should be.
New rad mounted showing old super cooling mounting points (red) and new rad mounted where AC condenser was.
from front of truck showing new rad mounted to condenser mount positions.
Oh and one final note: The upper hose is perfect but needed a new lower hose (not shown) I used a too long 2" inner diameter 90 degree bend hose (AZ part#: E70739) and just cut to size.
