Super cooling vs Extra cooling core support and shroud

When I bought my 1977 F-150 in 2005 it had a 351m, slightly leaking super cooling radiator and no shroud. When the 351m died I swapped to a 460 with the same radiator and no shroud. I've had the truck idling in 100 degree heat with no shroud and the Autometer temp gauge did not move.
I picked up a 1979 F-150 earlier this month, the PO had scrapped the radiator but the shroud was there and in perfect condition. It was a D7TA-AA shroud which is Extra cooling. So I have to assume this truck had an extra cooling radiator.
I knew of a guy that had a brand new super cooling radiator for $50! The radiator was his dads who passed on and the truck is long gone as well. He also polished the raised portions of top tank which is kind of interesting. Anyway I picked this up on Tuesday.
What I did was swap my slightly leaking super cooling radiator from my 1977 to my 1979 with no shroud.
Then I took the new super cooling radiator and bolted the extra cooling shroud to it, then put that in my 1977.
Just out of curiosity I've got a few questions. I've read on here that the super cooling vs extra cooling trucks had different core supports but my super cooling radiator went right in my extra cooling truck. Unless some had already modded the extra cooling core support for a super cooling radiator and kept the extra cooling shroud on it. Or are the super cooling and extra cooling core supports actually the same?
Also does anyone have a pic of a super cooling radiator with correct shroud? Here's my super cooling radiator with extra cooling shroud. You can tell its not quite right but it works just fine and doesn't look out of place once installed. I figure its gotta be better than the missing shroud I've had for the last 6 years!

Here's the S/C radiator with the correct shroud for my '73.

Wow that is impressive, all of it- your work, the shroud and the pics. Now I feel like I need to buy a new shroud. lol.
So where is the best place to buy a super cooling shroud? Bronco Graveyard? Fan Shroud, Super Cooling
Pricey. I paid $400 for the truck that I stole the extra cooling shroud from.

Thanks. I take tons of pictures whenever I'm working on the Pumpkin so I can document the build. I take pictures of even the dull, boring stuff (like fan shrouds) because you never know when they might come in handy. I'm just glad they developed digital cameras, I'd go broke on developing costs otherwise.
That shroud was a used one that looked terrible but didn't have any cracks or damage. I detailed it by scrubbing it with a Brillo soap pad then wiped down with laquer thinner and topped it off with a coat of Krylon Fusion semi-gloss black, then added a new "caution" decal.
Here's what it looked like when I got it.
I've seen used ones on Craig's List but not very often.

My extra cooling shroud looked to be in the same condition and I also cleaned it up with a brillo soap pad! Thats as far as I went though, no painting.
I hear ya on the digital cameras. I mostly do everything with my phone though. I've got an SD card in it and currently have about 2200 pics on it. Luckily I can make ablums on my phone or I'd never find anything.

How can you tell between the super and extra cooling radiators?

Look at the picture in Blown331's first post, the super cooling radiator is about 4"-5" taller than the extra cooling. You can see the difference in how the fan shroud fits. On an extra cooling radiator the upper and lower tanks would be "snug" against the shroud, not spaced several inches away.

Wouldn't the "super cooling" also have the thicker/taller tanks with larger hose outlets?

I've seen some with REALLY big top tank and others like mine where the tank looks more "normal". Not sure what the reason is for that, but the inlet/outlet hose openings are the same size. They will vary between different engines though.

How many rows does the super cooling generally have?

Generally four but recently I've seen super cooling radiators advertised with ONE row(!!)
This is listed as a high efficiency radiator. The single row is the same width as the four row but the depth is ~4 times as deep.
When I bought the new radiator for the Pumpkin I had a choice on the single row or four row. I'm old school (or just plain old) and chose the four row.

Blown 331 do you happen to know your core measurement on your super cooling radiator?

I believe the super cooling radiator core measures 26x24 (or 24x26? I don't remember which is the height vs. width).

It also has flange mounts different than the other radiators (rear flange mount vs front flange mount).

If you want all the measurements, etc, look in LMC's online catalog - they have all the radiators listed, along with specs on mounting and outlet locations.

I'm not sure what i have in my truck, but its freaking huge lol.
Here's the core measurements.
Width is 28 3/8
Height is 23 1/4
And i cant get a good measurement of just the core thickness, but I'm guessing 3 1/8?
It looks to me like its a 4 core, because its pretty wide, and also it has the rear flange mount.

Ive been trying to find a shroud, but i cant find anything with those measurements.
