Stereo Wiring

I'm looking for a way to tap into the Mute wire on the stereo. My 2015 Lariat (wo Sony) has a mute button on the clock spring. I assume the wire must run to the back of the stereo, after it goes through the various computer modules. Does anyone know what color that wire is? Also, what would it take to activate that mute control:
+12V
+5V
Ground

I have a police scanner where I'd like to setup an audio monitoring circuit, that upon sensing the scanner talking, would mute the stereo. I found a pretty easy circuit that I can build that would do that, but it relies upon that mute wire.
