Well I picked up a load of FE parts for my truck and with it I got a cam that I am try to ID. The parts of out of an old drag car and all are supposed to be ford castings. The only casting numbers I can find are a X-TA toward the rear of the cam after the last lobe and the number 5 cast on either side of the center journal, if any can help ID the cam or tell me where the casting #'s are supposed too be would be greatly appretiated.

X-TA isn't in my book
The only thing that sounds close is 'light blue" both sides of #3 Journal. That is a 390GT/428CJ
Most are marked between dist gear and first journal or between the last lobe and last journal.
Most seem to include an upside down "A"

Well I looked at the cam where you said and found nothing but grinder marks. Could this be some sort of experimental cam, I mean with the x in the Xta, with the numbers ground off so it couldnbt be id'ed?

I'm not very sure,
There are certainly people here that have better refrence material than me.
Problem is, there is really no telling what "light blue" would look like after 35 years?
You might try posting this on some of the mustang forums too...........
