Studebaker drivers love the truck. There were two beds available the wider one was an option. Studebaker’s 289 ci engine produces more horses than the Ford 289. They also had a ton of speed records and design trophies. The purchase of Packard and mismanagement is what drove them to bankruptcy.
But I may be a bit prejudiced! But I’m not sure why????
I like Studebakers, just not those.
I have a '56 stude 1/2 ton that my dad bought new and plan to restore/rebuild it in the near future. I got this ugly one for it's V8 engine and 3spd OD trans, which I hope to transplant into my '56.....
Scott that should make for a good combination. The half tons ride very well and look good. The V8 is a good engine. Let me know if you need parts and I’ll get you a couple good suppliers.
Well, Bob, at least it's not a "clinking, clanking, collection of caliginous junk" that you need a tetanus shot before you climb in! Nor will it leave rust marks on the driveway when it rains. And it is your favorite color!
At least the cab is not chopped up and the rear fenders look good although they might be 53 to 56 fenders..... But the bed looks shortened.
Joe, I guess you couldn't say "What's under the hood?"
OK, this one has to be in the top five of the ugliest trucks. I hope no says how much talent it took to build this POS. I've piled scrap on my trailer that looks better than this abomination. What is he fusing with the screw in fuse?! He does have two parts that I see as 90% of the value of the truck truck, the turn signal switch and the two bus STOP lights. Even with those the truck might be worth $200.
