I have the hitch mounted standard with the ball towards the tailgate but I have the coupler reversed. This moves the trailer 8" closer to the truck cab but prevents the pin box from contacting the truck bed rails. I can get about 75 degrees of turn in reverse before there is chance trailer cap contacting the truck rear window. I don't like anything more than 45 degrees because of the twist this puts on the tires and axles.
Was the 5th wheel loaded in that picture? Same setup I am looking to buy and wondering if I'm going to need airbags to be level.

Yes,

Trailer was loaded. I get a little over 2" of sag in rear when hitched. Headlights don't seem to bother oncoming traffic.

I have Timbrens on my truck right now. They do a very good job of leveling the load when I am towing and I have had them for the life of my last 2 trailers.
What I don't like is that when I am empty and, as my truck is my daily driver in a 35 mile commute on not too even highways, when ever I hit expansion joints or road repaired patches or just dips in the roads the timbrens bottom out and I can get a pretty good jolt since they don't have the travel room over the stock stops.
I just purchased Firestone airbags and will put them on soon. A good friend has the same truck and tows almost the same weight. He also had timbrens and then switch to airbags for the same reason I am going to and he told me the difference is dramatic both empty and loaded.
If this thread is still around when I finally get the time to put on the airbags I'll repost and let you all know what I find.

Good info on the Timbrens. I had gone to etrailer.com to order them and they showed the superior Sumosprings at a lower price so that is what I ordered. The Sumosprings have a softer, more progressive rubber compound and I ordered the jounce type similar to Timbrens. They also have a full kit type that is like air bags without the compressor or leak hassle. I am getting them more for loaded ride and handling than for sag.
Anyway, I will have them installed with the Bilsteins I ordered from Amazon. The Bilsteins should improve unloaded ride and the Sumos should help with the loaded ride, especially on rough roads.

Based on your report, I went with the Sumosprings to help with the loaded ride. I'll report on those as well. Based on my research, they look to be a happy medium between air bags and Timbres.
