As someone else said, almost any cover should work. I had a BAKFlip trifold hard cover on my Sierra 6.5' bed with the Andersen rail mount under. Worked fine folded flat to the front 1/3 for towing.

I am kind of leaning toward the Bakflip4, but I have no experience with any of them. I have seen a bunch of different brands on the web but they don't really show how compatible they are with the Anderson ball mount. Since I am starting out with all new stuff I don't even know which way the Anderson will be rotated!

I have a Bakflip G2 bed cover. AUH fits well under it.

I cut 3" holes in the base of my 3220 today for access to the Reese safety chain loops and got the safety chains installed.
Reese puck safety chain loops through 3" holes in the Andersen hitch.

Love the AUH.

17 CCSB Lariat 4x4 w/BedRug

I have the hitch mounted standard with the ball towards the tailgate but I have the coupler reversed. This moves the trailer 8" closer to the truck cab but prevents the pin box from contacting the truck bed rails. I can get about 75 degrees of turn in reverse before there is chance trailer cap contacting the truck rear window. I don't like anything more than 45 degrees because of the twist this puts on the tires and axles.

Sorry, I am confused when you say you have the coupler reversed yet facing the tailgate? Your set-up almost has me sold on AUH

Also, what bed cover are you using, I am leaning towards the Bakflip MX4 for my CCSB

There are 2 components; the AUH which can be installed with ball toward the cab (LB) or toward the tailgate (SB), and the coupler or adapter which can be installed with the receiving socket in front or behind the pin.

I have none set up the same way in my 16 CCLB. Both toward the tailgate just put it to far back.
I like how you did the safety chains. Any hints, tips or tricks ?

Thanks

Here's a YouTube video that explains reverse coupler.

I used masking tape on the truck bed to outline the installed hitch. I then removed the hitch and measured puck centers then used those measurements to drill the holes.

I seem to remember the puck max diameter was 3 1/8" so I drilled the holes 3.1/4" to give some room.

Verify your measurements. Some members have reported Slight differences where my 10 1/16" measurement was 9 7/8" on theirs. The 3/16" dirrerence could be attributed to how the hitch was installed, fore and aft before it was torqued down.

Directions state to push the hitch as far back towards the truck cab before tightening. I didn't do that, I just squared it up before tightening it and measuring for holes. That could account for the 3/16 difference. There's enough slop on the hole size so that mine fits which ever way the hitch is biased.

Here is my diagram.

It sure would be nice if Andersen had a Ford Fifth Wheel Prep specific model so that is isn't necessary to drill the holes.

The safety chains are not required and Ford and Dodge have different puck systems so it would complicate a simple system. It is easy enough to use a hole cutter to make the holes if you desire safety chains. FWIW, I cut 3" holes, it was a little tight so I used a half-round ******* file to elongate the holes slightly. 3 1/8" would be perfect but I couldn't find saw that size.

Amazing that the word "*******" is outlawed.... it IS as I remember it, a file! Here's another Webster's definition: : of a kind similar to but inferior to or less typical than some standard ******* marble or ******* file
