What model year do you have? I had a '13 and could do passive regens to 500miles. My 16 has had a trailer connected to it since day 1. Most days is 8k tool trailer. Some days it has 16k dump trailer fully loaded. My point being is even 28k gross, no passive regen occurs with the newer model
Passive regens occur when the EGT 4 temp is over 575*. It is not obvious at times that regen is occurring.
Once 500 miles from the end of the last active regen is reached, Ford forces an active regen. This is my observance.
Mine always seems to go into Regen when I'm close to Home. I have been told that the Base Model trucks with the 6.7 can be commanded by the Driver to go into Regen anytime. I wonder if those codes to do so could be incorporated into the Higher end trucks programming.

there are people currently working to be able to unlock a manual regen command by utilizing FORScan. That way if you know you're going to be driving for a bit bit know you'll be close to going into regen right before you get home you can force a regen.

The Operator Commanded Regen (OCR) was a $250 option. Not sure it can be added or not to the base trucks. Your best bet for a manual regen is FORScan (latest version) or a tuner/monitor such at the Edge products. I have a monitor from Edge, the CTS2. It will allow me to do a manual regen.
Somebody mind telling me where you find this information? The "cleaning exhaust filter" message comes on for about 2 seconds and then I have no idea when it's done. Have an 8 hour tow to the beach tomorrow, need something to occupy my time.....
I know the Edge CTS and ScanGauge II can indicate regen status. The best predictor is to have your dealer turn on Force Regen = True to display the % DPF Full on the dash. When it reaches 100% or Full, a regen starts shortly after. That is what we look at when we talk about the regen quitting at 25% full. However, that still doesn't say when the regen is done. My CTS has a red light at the top during regen plus I added DPF Status (shows ON or OFF) as a gauge on the CTS because on bright sunny days I have trouble seeing the red light. I am sure the FORScan app will also indicate DPF Status.
Only way to have an indication if regen is finished, it to watch the bars on the instant fuel mileage. If it is high on scale, then finished, if low on scale it is still in regen.
On my 2015 had regens every day for past 6 days pulling hvy 5th wheel. Torque Pro gives you start/stop and EGT temps before, during, after regen. Truck has the optional screen to give you its soot percent figures. Start watching at 95% soot level and can see TP screen for the start of regen. Usually never drops below 35% on Truck Screen. Most EGT temps in mid 700 to low 800's when towing and 1100 to 1200 during regen.
