I know it seems like everyone's truck tends to have different tolerances when it comes to when it starts and stops regen when it comes to gpl but the last two times my truck has gone into regen it starts at 100% and finishes at 25%. Is it normal to stop regen when it gets to 25% or should it be stopping at 0%. Or could it be that the percentage in my truck is off and it's actually using the gpl to start and Stop? The only thing about that is that forscan says it's supposed to start at 100% which it does so if my percentage is off that would mean it was starting at 75% does it not?
My stops in the 30 but it continues to burn down into the teens. Also Every 600 miles it does a long regin and I have seen it take it down to 0, 6,8 percent. I have also seen it go into regen at 12 percent and finish in 20 miles below the 0 percent mark. It does what does, don't worry too much.
The ONLY thing I have found that prolong time between regen is using Propel Diesel HPR. I get about 300 miles IF I use it. I do like it.
Regen percentage is a computed value. 20% to 25% is typical of the value when regen finishes. I have seen 15% a few times and some on here say they have seen 0% but that is rare.
I have seen mine stop regen via the CTS2 at 25% and continue to drop to 20% to 15% sometimes after sitting or continued driving.
If not mistaken, Ford has regens set for a max of 500 miles since the end of the last regen as a trigger if NO regen occurs prior to 500 miles.
Same as others here. Mine stops at 25%-30% and temps will carry it another 10% normally...id love to see it goto 0%. I feel it shortens the life cycle of the dpf. Maybe I'm thinking about it too much. I rarely get a complete regen as it always starts when I get close to my house... I always turn the truck to a 4 speed to get those temps hot

I tried that today. Ran in 4th at about 2500 RPM to try and help it get hotter but still didn't drop below 25%. Oh well I guess I'm Reading too much into it. Thanks for all the replys guys.

I have tried the downshift during regen and for my truck, it didn't make a difference in the time nor miles it took to regen. The regen is computer controlled via DPF pressure sensor and doubt much you do is going to change the % it shows when finished.
I have never seen my go below 25% while driving. After I park and let it sit I have seen the reading of 20% at startup which is the lowest I have ever seen.
Somebody mind telling me where you find this information? The "cleaning exhaust filter" message comes on for about 2 seconds and then I have no idea when it's done. Have an 8 hour tow to the beach tomorrow, need something to occupy my time.....
There is some complicated algorithm as to how the truck regens.
I've gone down to 30% and to 0% several times on my in progress roundtrip drive from Alaska to Florida. 20% seems to be the most common # I get down to though. I've even managed to hit regens based on mileage (roughly 515 miles and I was only at 65%)
The truck takes care of itself... If it didn't we'd hear a lot more about plugged up DPFs or DPF failures. We did hear about EGT probes going bad and I somehow think the latest programming is geared towards preventing those failures. (just a guess though).

Somewhere on FTE there is a thread that talks about adding a screen on your dash display that shows you "Exhaust Filter" and displays the % of how full the filter is. When your truck goes into regen the % falls and you can monitor it.
I had my local dealer do the re-programing but the thread I read on FTE actually had step by step instructions and I saw that some guys (or women too I imagine) who are more tech savvy that me did the re-programing themselves.
more than likely you can watch the soot % go down to zero and stay there. When I tow (which is pretty often) I never have a regen.
Regens are always when I am unloaded. It waits till I am at 100% and then will regen till it says 0%.
What model year do you have? I had a '13 and could do passive regens to 500miles. My 16 has had a trailer connected to it since day 1. Most days is 8k tool trailer. Some days it has 16k dump trailer fully loaded. My point being is even 28k gross, no passive regen occurs with the newer model
