So I have tried rubbing off the cloudiness on the glass with glass cleaners with not much luck. I read 0000 steel wool with water will get it off. Has anyone done this? I've I can't get all this cloudiness off the outside of the windows I'm afraid they will need replaced which I don't want to do. Ide rather refresh them. Thanks
There's a good chance that what you talking about is the Plastic that is in the automotive safety glass that has gotten cloudy. I don't think you can do anything but, replace the glass.
I had to do the inside and outside of all of mine. My process included a couple razor blades and glad cleaner as a lube. Clean them good before starting otherwise a price of dirt could scratch the glass. But like others have said, might be the interal plastic.

If you are referring to the windshield then the outside and inside pieces are separated by a piece of plastic as mentioned here. They are 2 separate pieces of glass. For side windows and back window I would follow the recommendations of the knowledgeable people here. Not knowing what to do I would still not ever use steel wool on glass.

Agree. Windshield cloudiness may well be the plastic in between and no steel wool... it can make scratches that are hard to get out.
For surface cloudiness, there are glass polishing products that can work. I have tried the "mild" type and not much help. The more aggressive compounds are "for professional use only". They can scallop the surface which may be worse than the original problem. All of the polishing approaches take a lot of time.
If a good cleaning with glass cleaner + careful cleaning with strong solvent like lacquer thinner does not clear it up new glass would be my choice.
So I actually was told to spray a little wd40 and see if it helps. I did that and gave it a good scrubbing. Seems like it's coming off then window clean the wd40 off. Just going to take a lot of elbow grease!
If it is a white cloudiness on just the front windshield then I think that is a sign of the inner and outer glass separation from the thin material in between them. And no way to fix that other than replacement.
