If the glass is laminated, like windshield glass is, and cloudy theres nothing that can be done...thats the layers of glass delaminating ...from age or cracks...door glass was available as laminated as well on these trucks so its possible the same issue can happen to it...If the door glass ISNT laminated and is milky on the edges...could be paint overspray from once upon a time in which case lacquer thinner will handle that...be careful around the painted areas as it will attack it as well...and take appropriate safety precautions for yourself as well...gloves and safety glasses at the very least..if the glass was etched with some kind of design like some peeps do today, you cant do anything with that issue except live with it or replace the glass...
THere is some glass cleaner in a spray can at Oreilly's for a couple bucks that works better than anything else I've tried...works great on getting the glass as clean and greaseless as it can be. It won't be much help for de-lamination, though.
If you can feel it on top of the glass its not delamination. My door glass is scratched up from the regulator because the inner seal is shot and the po didnt change it. Im not sure if you can buff that stuff out, it would take some kind of diamond abrasive and would cost more than replacing the window. Seeing as the side and back windows are flat they should be available.
I don't know how they did it. I had the windshield seal replaced on the Uni. The glass was dull and pitted from age. They polished it with something and it came out nice. 10 years later it is still nice so it was not just wax. So maybe check with a glass shop?
Good tips guys. I dont think its laminated (door glass) just old and cloudy. I will try to clean it up with some compound. I tried everything else to clean it, but no luck.
