Unhappy boost egt issues?

I have just started driving my truck and I am having some egt issues.

On a wot pull (think pulling onto a straight highway ramp) I hit 1200 degrees around 40-50 mph. This is where I have the alarm set and I let off when I hear it... It will occasionally spike to 1260 ish as I let off. I think that is still safe if it's like the 7.3.

Also, I generally don't see more than 20psi boost according to my cts2.I did see 21psi once

It has a php stock tune minus egr. I also have their 40hp heavy tow, 100hp performance, and 140hp xtreme canned tunes.

I have left it on stock for diag purposes.

Here are my questions... I hope they are the right questions...

1) am I correct in assuming that egt should never be an issue on a stock tune

2) on a stock tune, I think I should see mid to high 20s on a wot pull based on some stuff I read.

3) on the info center I have yet to see it get to 10mpg. I have been doing a lot of idling and diag that could be affecting it but this seems even a bit low to me after 120ish miles. I do not know how accurate it is and I haven't put enough miles on it to do a manual calc. Please comment.

4) I have noticed that on a relatively flat cruise with light throttle (to maintain 45ish mph) I am seeing ebp about double boost...ie 5-7psi boost, 10-15psi ebp...
That seems high to me.

My current plan is to pull the cat to be sure it's not clogged. I plan to do it tonight once temps drop below 95 (it's 106 right now).

What else should I be looking at? I did clean the turbo and ring per DTR's video when it was out.

Well... catalytic converter is in good shape...

I am going to try to do some of the tests on the turbo sheet that bismic posted in another thread. I juat cant do the driving one without another driver. I get the feeling that staring at a laptop screen is a bad idea while trying to drive.

What is MAP, EBP and BARO at KOEO and at warm idle?
You should hit 27-28psi on WOT with a stock tune.
1250* at 50mph is pretty high for that speed, sounds like lots of fuel and not much air.

Clean the EBP tube with string trimmer line and verify MAP hose isn't cracked or split and the nipple is clear.

that is kinda what I figured. map hose, I think, is in good shape but I will double check it. I will also double check the ebp tube.

on a side note I did do a "Turbo test" in IDS... Kinda neat...

Well... I just got off the phone with PHP and they are indicating that it's normal. They seem to think that it should be ok to 1300 degrees so long as it doesn't stay there for long.

I think I will do another run and hold it a bit longer.

Well... I just did another freeway on-ramp and held it. It did spike to about 1270-1280 but dropped below 1200 about a second later.

as I hit 80-90 it was creeping up to just over 1200 but I had to let off as I ran out of road.

Boost got to 22psi.

maybe it is normal... I might put in the 100hp performance tune and see how it's different.

Richard

edt: I also boosted the warning level on the CTS2 from 1200 to 1270 degrees.

You still should be able to hit 27-28psi. 1300* on EGT is as high as you want to go.
