Clutch master and slave cylinder help!!

89 f250 7.3 idi Zf5 transmission my shifter lever broke clean off at the base under my shift boot my clutch was working just fine then all of a sudden it just went dead went straight to the floor and didn't come back up had to pick it up with my foot this has happened before but clutch returned back to normal After a few seconds of pumping the clutch I'm guessing either my master or slave cylinder went out I couldn't put it in gear at all I tried again to put it in first and then snap shifter lever just broke good thing it's sitting in my apartment parking lot what do y'all think it is

Go underneath and look!

Check to make sure something didn't happen to the lever going from the slave cylinder into the bellhousing.

Also, you broke the shifter lever because you tried to put it in gear with the clutch effectively out, so it wasn't going to engage.
You can weld it up or replace that piece.

I had an '85 and the clutch fork broke. Same issue. No clutch, so I'm thinking Macrobb is correct. You have to pull something.

Idk cause I'll have no clutch and then it will come back the rest of the day if I open the master cylinder and pump the clutch a few times then it's normal again maybe their is air in the line cause I've had to add fluid a few times maybe slave is leaking drive shaft is has fluid on it

Then that is probably it. You left out seeing fluid under the truck. Get a new one and follow bench bleeding instructions. You will likely need someone to help pump it up and bleed it. Get a new shifter.

JB weld will NOT work for that.

A good welder probably could fix it if properly prepped. You may be better off finding a new/junkyard shifter though.

I'm not sure but think they're about the same, 4 or 5 speed. But some weld shop dude may take pity and weld it up for you real quick.

The 4 speed shifter is all one piece, it won't work...just take it to any general welder and it will hold as long as your not using the thing as a pry bar.

Get that slave cylinder fixed too (;
