my truck is a 62 international scout 80 that i want to throw the 5.0 into and have been looking for either a np435 or a t18 because they adapt to my dana 18 transfer case
All Ford 4x4 transmissions use the same transfer case pattern. So if your dana 18 fits those transmissions, it will fit any of the Ford manual or automatic transmissions.
I guess you know the truck engines 80-up had a rear sump oil pan, somewhat like the older Broncos. I don't know if you need a front sump or a rear sump, the t bird engine you have most like has a double sump with double oil drain plugs. That is ok if you can get to the front plug.
You found a 1966 transmission and want to put it into a Binder, so thought to ask a bunch of 1980 - 86 Ford nuts/gurus? Please help me understand the logic in that!
Ok, so maybe it isn't the wrong pan - I have no clue if a Scout needs a front or rear sump pan. As for the tranny, why do you want an NP435? Yes, it has a serious 1st gear, but so do the T18's and T19's, as well as the ZF5, and the latter also has an OD.
But, you will have to think through the clutch linkage. Is a hydro unit available for the Scout?
so I love ford's so I'm putting a 5.0 in it to get over 55 reliably and I happened to find a np435 in a f100 while at the wrecking yard
Love the other help but the 5.0 fits in the engine bay without modification, gets me over 55 and according to Novak conversions, I can adapt the d18 I have behind a t18 and a np435, but all I need is the stuff in between the transmission and the engine. Not anything before or after the transmission and engine
