I purchased a truck that I should have let die but I'm in so deep that I need to fix it and I now need help. The manifold studs on the DS snapped and will not budge. I need to pull the head to drill these out but the head bolts on the outside of the valve cover and in touch shape. I can see that the inner bolts are 15mm in size. Are the outer bolts a different size? Nothing I try seems to fit. Its a 2000 7.3. Any help is appreilciated.
These are corroded badly. I could legit fit a 1/2 on one. any ideas for getting it off? Could I cut the head of the bolts on the outside and slide the head over the remaining part of the bolt?
It's going to be hard, the driver side has that rear most head bolt that you are not going to be able to cut, the rest can be cut. I suggest you either leave them soaking in some sort of penetrating lube or use a torch to heat them up and see if they come loose other than that, I'm positive the only way would be engine removal.

If you have access to a welder, you could try to weld a new nut on top of the bolt head. Weld down through the center of the nut. I've had good success using this method on rounded/corroded bolts.
