Oil Additive???

I purchased my F-250 SD Diesel on Oct 03,2016. I have only put 2,100 miles on her due to having a work vehicle.
My question; Should I use some type of oil additive that will help keep the system lubricated while she sits covered for weeks at a time?
I did have the oil changed after 800 miles to get rid of the break-in oil. It has whatever oil Ford uses at the dealership.
Thanks

Fist of all, the manual doesn't say anything about changing the break in oil early. That's kind of the purpose of break in oil, leave it in while the engine is being broken in. Since you aren't following the manual for oil, might as well throw in an additive.

I don't run additives of any kind, I highly doubt you need to either. Your truck won't need extra lube while it's sitting.

Since I live in the big city and much of my time is spent sitting in traffic idling, my Ford Tech's were looking more at engine hours than miles so they recommended that I change the oil. (It was a freebie anyway). I will take your advice on not putting any additives in though.
Thanks

If this week long sitting is every week a battery tender may be to your advantage. I concur on no additives needed.

Pretty harsh response to an honest question (IMO)

Actually, the manual (Diesel Supplement) says not to use any break-in oils or additives as they may adversely effect the seating of piston rings. No where does it say that the Ford factory oil fill contains break-in additives. The manual also says the oil should be changed according to the Intelligent Oil Life Monitor (IOLM) which uses a formula to determine the percent of oil life remaining. A should is a reccomendation, not a requirement or directive. If one wants to change their oil before the IOLM says to, there is nothing in the manual that prohibits it.

There were threads from a couple years back that suggested early changes of the original oil could cause aresult in a ticking issue. I changed the original at 5000, but waited for the IOLM after that. Tried AR9100 for a few changes but could not tell enough difference to continue the practice. I suspect the new CK-4 oils approved by Ford may be of greater benefit.

Oil additives are not required in the 6.7 PSD.

Some CK-4 oils have the anti-wear additives removed and are not approved for use in a Ford diesel. So much for a greater benefit.

My question would be: Is there a ZDDP additive available that would return the CK-4 oil to a useful product?

You missed that I said the CK-4 oils approved by Ford. If you use CK-4 oils, they MUST also conform to the Ford spec WSS-M2C171-F1.
Why buy a non-approved oil and apply additives that may not be sufficient?

In General

I would stay away from oil additives. Use oils on the approved list that carry the WSS-M2C171-F1 from ford. You have a VERY expensive exhaust system and I would stay within ford spec's.
