Unless I missed it, I don't even know what the OP is driving? If a 6.0 it's at least 10 years old. Ford corporate is more than likely not interested at all. The dealer may be shady but when buying used it is "Buyer Beware" Unless certain guarantees are in writing the OP is most likely barking up a tree.
Not sure how similar to the 7.3 your truck is, but when it was running did it suddenly shut off as if you abruptly removed the key or was it a slow death?
if abruptly I would check the CPS (crank/cam position sensor(s)
if slow death i would look look and treat it as a fuel delivery issue, if you search my user name and Torquepro FAQ you should find a good read to help you in the world of diesels, I would like to suggest you get Torque pro (or lite) and the obd linkmx so we can check a few numbers out like ICP, IPR any any others that are needed, just to make sure the truck is good to go
Why don't you ask the shop that you paid to do the PPI for you why they failed to inform you of these matters? You did get a PPI right? No one buys an expensive, complicated, high maintenance vehicle like this they know little about on just the sellers word? It's not a Toyota Camry.

my goodness - I may have misunderstood the purpose of this website. I was told I could get some good advice, tips, etc. from knowledgeable owners. I didn't realize it was a forum to be verbally chastised and insulted. This is the second posting I've received that basically called me an idiot.
It is always a good move too get a PPI on a used vehicle by techs that are familiar with that type of vehicle you're buying.
You've never stated if the selling dealer was a ford dealer so at this point everyone is wondering why you think ford will care about the"screw job" you got by the sellers on an over 10 year old vehicle. If it's a ford dealer, which I doubt due to the age of your vehicle most likely, they'll have some explaining to do for sure.
I did offer you some advice as well in my first post. Any service performed at a ford dealer will show on an Oasis report that you can acquire at any ford dealer by just giving them your VIN.
Hopefully this helps you now and in the future.

I didn't see anyone calling you an idiot. There are just certain things that buyers of 10 year plus old vehicles should be taking responsibility for. It's quite possible that the salesperson was a shyster but that doesn't relieve you of your responsibility as a consumer. There are Ford reps that acquaint this site time to time but your vehicle has more than likely been out of their system for years. The reps more frequently visit the Ford forum sites that still have vehicles that would still be under the factory warranty.

1st off, welcome, you are in the right place. A Forum Moderator should have moved your original thread that Mark linked to over to this, 6.0 dedicated forum right off the bat. That thread had a lot of what the heck was going on, how it started, your level of knowledge, what truck it was, etc., in it.
But you have some very knowledgeable 6.0 folks weighing in over there. I'll see if John can merge these threads over here.
Please stick around, these are really some great folks...
The seller was indeed a Ford dealer; Asheboro Ford, NC. He was recommended by an acquaintance here in ATL area. Owner said over and over how he was going to make sure this was a great SAFE truck for me. He certainly did not. If I was dumb enough to buy this from a individual seller without having it checked out or knowing anything about it I would have only myself to blame. But I put my faith in a dealer who convinced me he had my best interest in mind. He was aware that I was a single female planning to travel not only into remote outdoor areas but sometimes pulling a 39-foot 8 ton fifth wheel RV. It's become obvious he didn't have anything in mind but the bucks even if it means me getting stranded or worse.
Maybe your friend who's friend's with this dealership owner should get involved and not be friends with him anymore if he doesn't make it right.
No one but you will have your best interests at heart these days.
Never ever ever agree to buy a vehicle long distance without having it inspected.
The dealer probably isn't to happy to deal with your problems because he couldn't make the deal for your trade which he would have made more money on. Not that it's justified.
Believe you me, I'm half Sicilian half Irish; if he wasn't 6 hours away he'd be sorry he ever met me! However, I'm waiting until I find out the root cause of these problems, with diagnoses in writing, and a printout of all his texts to me, and will then make a demand to him to make it right, whatever I decide that entails. It will either come from me or one of the attorneys I work for. And Ford will likely be informed of the shyster peddling their name, for what it's worth. He may be used to taking advantage of the uneducated and lower socio-economic population of Asheboro and surrounding area, but make no mistake, I won't be taking this lying, or even sitting down. As the Italians say, "you mess with the bull, you get the horns."

With the proper diagnosis and texts, that may be conceived as a verbal contract or guaranty, you may at least put him in a position that the fight isn't worth it to him.
I would check with that states AG office for reports on this dealer and also with the BBB.
After that I would take the truck and have a good diagnostics done on it.
Once you have that info if you can post the DTCs they found along with
any other info on what they are finding we may be able to help you a lot better.
On Ford doing something to the dealership the chances are very slim.
The Oasis report will give you some things but not all of the history.
Things it won't show are outside warrantee work. It will show if any
of the warrantee was done at a Ford shop or paid for by Ford. This would
include any recall work that has been done. So even though it does not
show all it's still a good thing to have on hand.
To be clear about this is the 2006 F350 we are talking about?
The big thing is scanning it for codes (DTC) and seeing what is found.
