putting the 2015 coyote crate in a 49 f1. the computer has to mount in the front of the engine. i've thought about mounting it in the fender well but not sure how well it'll live there. any ideas from you guys doing this kind of swap as to where to mount it? thx.

I mounted the computer for my 5.0 in the kick space on the rt side in the cab
Are you going to have AC? Because now is the time to coordinate those, not much room in the f1
Yes that's the way the engine harness is routed and that's where the computer is on the 2015-17 mustangs just to the side of the engine in the engine bay and yes I plan on having A/C. Talked to ford they said it would be fine as long as it didn't get to wet. That's what concerns me, because I plan on driving it and I don't want a rain storm to put us on the side of the road. I think getting this thing in the engine bay is going to be the best option.
My donor was a van so the wire harnesse was set for that vehicle I had chuck field do the delete and adjust the harness to my locations so it can be done just your ability or $$ to hire it done
Another thought maybe another vehicle/harness could help in locating the box, just keep in mind that it's small area for all these lines and wires
Dunno what's different about yours, mine is a 2012 model, it has the CPU and a power box. CPU went in the firewall on the fender side of the clutch master cylinder, and power box was mounted in the same place on the passenger side of the firewall. This is the best picture I have....You can just see the wires from the CPU on the other side of the clutch master. I did have to lengthen some of the wires, but that was no big deal. Good luck.

Chuck's a great guy to work with and can tailor your harness however you need it.
I don't know who you talked to at "Ford" but all the OEM computers that I have seen are potted (the back is filled with a flexible sealant) or they are in a sealed, weatherproof box with weather pack sealed connectors, so placing it under the hood should not be a problem. I can't believe that anyone in Engineering at Ford would recommend the placement of a non-sealled electronic controller under the hood. That does NOT meet SAE specifications.
If it is an aftermarket box that is not sealed then you need to either put it in a sealed box or take your harness apart and put the box inside the cab.
Here is where I put my controllers:
Baumann trans controller, Lokar shift indicator controller and Ron Francis fuse panel mounted inside on the firewall above the transmission.
How about on the bottom side of the hood? Build a bracket to standoff and inch or so. Depends if your going with a flip frontend or conventional hood opening I guess. Usually this is a large open area under there.

Good looking engine bay, but unfortunately for me where your clutch master and power box are mounted is where my hood hinges are.
Looks like your truck is a 53'-56' model. The 48'-52' models have a lot more narrower engine bay making placement of things very limited.
I don't even have room for the battery, I just can (I hope) get AC in there, the alternator clears by only 5/16".
So far everything is fitting and hopefully everything else will go as well.
