i have a recently wrecked 95 f150 with the 4.9L. The frame is bent. I'd like to use the engine out of the truck, but i want to keep the fuel injection.
my question is: is there a computer harness that i can buy so that i just run the truck fuel injection and not have to worry about everthing else the computer is tied too. I'm sure i'll have to have a few sensors attached, I just want something as basic as i can get it for a swap. I've looked on the internet and i can't find anything. If someone has already been through this, i could use the help.
I'd like to put the engine in a 85 style side.
any advice would help!
You can probably take the engine harness out of the truck. IF it's an electronic automatic, you won't get the thing to run right anyway without that transmission hooked up. The only things that attach to the computer outside of the engine are the fuel pumps and the a/c pressure switch. Otherwise the harness serves the only the computer and the engine sensors and actuators.
Steve83 did this with '83 Bronco. I'd get the entire engine harness, the computer, and you'll have to put an O2 sensor in your exhaust stream as well to use the EFI. He took the exhaust system from his donor truck.
