New door panels damaged

My black '69 Ranger sat in my uncle's barn for 3 years with new in the box door panels from DC that he hadn't installed and the simulated wood vinyl veneer bubbled, are they salvageable? I thought about putting heat to it but I'm afraid I'll do more harm than good.

Theirs a guy on ebay who sell a lot of DC rejects for like $79bucks pretty much the same condition. Yep looks pretty bad. I don't thing you could make them look any worse. Wonder if a piece of veneer would fit into section and bond it with some M3 glue.

Or buy new ones..

This very thin about 1/32th boat decking veneer put something like this in it's place.
I made a dash from it.

You might be able to do something with a hair dryer. Depends on whether or not that stuff is brittle. Start in the middle and work your way out.you need a plastic squeegee with a soft rag wrapped around it to do the work. If you know someone that works at a sign shop or does window tinting they may be able to help.

Thanks fellas

I considered a real wood veneer, but I'd have to see if I could work it underneath the chrome strips.

I do have a friend at a graphics shop I could ask if the heat and squeegee effort fails.

No big loss, it just seems such a waste because the rest of the panels look sharp.

May be cut it at the chrome stripe if it's facing down an peel it loose fold it up an back then spray some 3M trim glue on both sides then slowly work it back down into place with a roller.

May be have help from another person getting all down flat. What do you gave to lose.
Mask off with blue tape so you don't get glue where you don't want it.

Well I tried reaching out no response. Your green light was on when I sent you a P.M. and remained on for a couple more hours. Good luck with the panels.

sorry, no offense meant. I was busier than a cat in a sandbox at work and after I had the 9 year old til the woman got home.

Thanks for the offer, but I was just soliciting advice thinking this might be a common occurrence other members have had to correct. I really do appreciate your offer to help.

Who says it has to be "under" the chrome strips? I used 3M spray adhesive to bond some veneer on mine. Up against the strips. Got the veneer at Parts Express years ago. I don't remember now which stain I used though.

Thanks. I don't remember which wood I used. When I get home I can look. It was one of these below. Stained it either Minwax red Oak or Golden Oak. I don't remember which. then covered it with polyurethane. Note. This veneer is real thin and is paper backed. The backing is supposed to stay on it. It helps to hold the wood together. Especially on curves and corners if one were to use it to recover speaker enclosures or cabinets. So give it just one thin coat of the stain. You don't want the moist stain to release the paper backing.
