68 Distributor Oil Cup

68 Distributor Oil Cup
Do the dual advance 67/68 and up distributors need to be oiled or are they internally lubed?
I changed out what I assume was the original Load-O-Matic distributor on my 67 F100 240 to a dual advance style. The old one had an oil cap under the base, the new does not. The new one, (brand new/rebuilt?) has the port for one but is plugged with a plastic plug. It looks fairly permanent; it doesn't come off as easily as a typical dust plug. I'm wondering if I should attempt to install the old cup on the new distributor.

That's a good question, but if there is no oil cap included it's kind of a moot point. For some reason they went away in later years. Don't forget under the rotor on top of the distributor shaft, there is a felt disc that takes ONE drop of oil every 500/1000 miles. Keeps the weights and springs and breaker plate from corroding iirc. Often missed.
