So my Excursion is for sale. I've had terrible luck here in CA because the EGR is deleted. I don't mind doing the work to put it back on but I can't find my original round cooler and up-pipe anywhere (my wife likes to "organize" for me). However, I have 5 or 6 late coolers and up-pipes lying around. My question is can I make the late cooler and up-pipe work with the early intake manifold with the crossover in the back?
Are you throwing a code? Many people I knew while I was in California ran around deleted never had issues. I mean you could just never mention it lol kidding that would be dishonest and then come back to bite you in the long run.
I never followed smog laws there when I was only because my truck registered out of state so I was free so to speak to do what I wanted.
Good luck returning it to stock but you could always list it on autotrader or eBay to get someone out of state to buy it.
So we used to just have the EGR turned off and leave the valve in and most smog techs wouldn't notice. The state has gotten smart and now they plug in and look for time since the last EGR cycle. Since its turned off in the tuning, it shows "not ready".
Don't kid yourself, the gestapo comes to places like this forum to glean info as to what to look for when it comes to states like Cali for smog checks.
I'm not saying that emissions are always a bad thing, but it gets to be overreach in many cases.
I'm with Irish....list it out of state and see what interest you get. You would be surprised how many folks will drive two or three states away for some makes and models. There are not a ton of 6.0 Ex's around, at least not around my area.
I drove five hours north to central MN for my kids truck.
Dodged a bullet. I had picked up a late intake manifold for next to nothing and was all set to dig in when a guy from Seattle called me. He flew into town on Friday and took my Ex home with him.

Thanks again for the input.
