Intake Manifold

I'm getting sick of taking the '03/'04 (with the cross over behind the turbo)intake manifold on and off EVERY time I want to work on my truck.

Can this be installed on a '04 motor?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Powerstroke-6-0-intake-manifold-/161325233862?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item258fbbb6c6&vxp=mtr
Also, has anyone got a source with a known good reputation for replacement intake manifolds?

This will install just fine. You'll need an EGR delete or the proper EGR cooler (square).

I thought it would work but I just wanted to make sure. Now all I have to do is find one for a decent price. Budget is tapped out for this project right now.

So I must be confused! I thought you had to put a pedestal on the earlier 6.0l's since the turbo mounts to the intake on the earlier engines. Did I read something wrong?

The pedestal doesn't connect to the intake at all. It bolts to the valley of the motor. All the turbo's use a pedestal but they're different for the different 03 than the 04 and up.

EGR cooler bolts up just fine to the late style intake.

The only thing that needs to match is the cooler with the proper up-pipe.

That's one way to Bulletproof the late style is to use that matching pair versus the weaker square cooler.

So if I want to be able to leave the turbo on and be able to pull the intake, I need to buy a later intake?

Have to pull the turbo to remove the intake, regardless of engine year.

So the OP is wanting to pull only the intake and leave the turbo on is what started this thread right?

Any that can not be done with any year intake , is that correct?

I thought it had to do with the HPOP.... cannot remove the HPOP with the early intake still installed.

With the later style intake the HPOP cover can be removed no issue.

That is exactly what I was after. However , I thought that once you loosened the uppipe and the down pipe you could remove the intake without fully removing the turbo? Isn't it intake bolts 8&9...or maybe only bolt 8 is in the way... that prevent you from pulling the intake without pulling the turbo?

I have heard of some being able to do it, but the majority just remove the turbo and be done with it.

Leaving the turbo to finagle an intake out is almost like 1 step forward and 2 steps back in my mind.
