Holy crap, looking for a tablet is worse than looking for a phone. Too many choices.
That's why I started this thread... trying to narrow the field of choices for the TP app. However, you can see how long the list is for makes/models to avoid... ZERO so far!
What I've concluded thus far is if you're buying a new tablet today, just about anything out there will probably work for just gauge monitoring in the truck, so the decision then gets driven by "What else do I want to do with this thing?".
Some of us might have thought that we were trying to kill a unique vampire and needed to know who made the best silver bullets, but it turns out that we're just squirrel hunting, and any really fast and hard projectile will get the job done.

well you know what they say about killing things, overkill…
I am eyeballing the Galaxy Tab A and the ZenPad 8 for now. Need to sit down and devote some time to really looking at the benefits of each and others close to them. Good enough performance to keep itself viable for the next 5 years is where I am at.
Thanks for creating this thread, it will be a valuable resource for quite some time.
So I got the new ZenPad 8 and it does nt have the USB-C port. It has the older Mini USB port. Now gotta figure out if it is worth while to try an send it back or live with it.
Hunh? No USB-C? That stinks. Makes me wonder what in the world those reviewers were actually reviewing, unless they had some brand new version of that model. I do recall that their review was for the "Zenpad S 8.0"... maybe the "S" is the secret to this conundrum?
It will not live in the truck as I use the truck to pull my fishing boat here and in Mexico.I will use the tablet in Lieu of a laptop when I travel, so the more goodies it has and capabilities the better.

As long as you can expand the memory with a micro SD card and it's capable of OTG, it should be pretty future-proof for a while. I've read where it can be manually updated to Nougat or Marshmallow, but I find nothing yet on Oreo.
Tugly, Thanks for your reply. The review referred to describes and reviews the correct Asus Zenpad S 8.0 Z580CA Tablet, but the link in the review is for the Z580C-BK-Bk which does not have the USB-C port. The link for the tablet for $349 at WM I had in my post was for the Z580CA with 64GB of storage, unfortunately that's the best price I can find.
