Been looking to replace the window seals, which I believe could be called the window scrappers on my '89 f150. Ones currently in there are cracked and breaking up causing the window to get jammed up at times when they break apart.
Has anyone replaced these before? Does the window glass need to come out and are there any special tools I need before I go and pull the door trims off?
I haven't had mine apart in awhile, but IIRC all you need a Phillips screwdriver to get the door panel off, and then you can pull off the metal clips that hold the scrapers in place.
You shouldn't need to take the glass out, just lower the window all the way
I replaced the ones on my 1987 F250. They come off by sticking a small screwdriver between the wiper and door to snap the clips out of their slots. I bought mine from LMC truck, they didn't fit very well. I had to do some careful trimming.
I just installed mine from Rock Auto and the fit was perfect. Plus I believe there was more felt on the RA than stock. Easy to install. I pulled the door panels and painted my interior door handles while I had em off.
Good to know. I'll have to check Rock Auto. LMC Truck sells a set that includes seals for both doors for $60 but I've never ordered from them before. Rock Auto is pretty dependable. Just gotta watch their shipping charges if you're ordering several items at once.
