HPOP oil lines
HPOP oil lines
has anyone made new hpop oil lines? I have a hydraulic hose fitting press 5k psi hydraulic line, and assortment of JIC fittings. Is this something I can do myself to save some money? What size fittings would I need? Thanks
Hey sous you wouldn't happen to know what I would need fitting wise would you? I'd like to have everything made up and ready to go when I rebuild the hpop, I've been digging and haven't really found any specs on updated oil lines
Been there, done that. Do yourself a favor and just get the ones from Ford, or someone who sells the Ford part. The standard hydraulic lines don't hold up over time, ask me how I know... Just my .02
OK, so now for "the rest of the story"? have to wonder what happened.
x2.
I've never had a problem with the lines. It's been the fittings that have given me issues over time. The "new design" definitely look better compared to the older ones when I put them on last year. I was replacing a bunch of HPO stuff so replaced the lines as a preventive measure since I was already deep into my valley (and wallet).

Just buy them from Ford. New ones are about $100 each. You can get them online from someplace like Tousley Ford ( now known as Auto Nation White Bear Lake), or if you're lucky, you can get your local dealer to match those prices. I have 2 dealers near me ( actually many more, but 2 that are real close). One will not match online prices. One usually will with some mild arguing. By the way, those online prices are usually cost + 10%, which seems to be the most common "shop" price/'discount that they will give to commercial customers.
As far as the hoses themselves, they are actually made by Aeroquip. I don't think you are going to beat their quality. I am pretty sure the quick connect fittings are also a proprietary Aeroquip design.

I know, that doesn't help with your question. Sorry, I don't know what fittings, I just figure if you change your mind, you'll have options.

You can get FOMOCO lines from Riffraff for $89. Ea. I did years ago and haven't had an issue. I did an hpop reseal with new non servicable plug, both lines, all new fittings, and re sealed the fuel bowl all at once. I don't like leaks lol.
