HP oil line leak...big time.
Hey everyone, it's been a while.
I developed a major oil leak about a mile from home this afternoon. When I got home, the engine valley was full, the truck was just dripping oil and I've lubed the entire undercarriage plus brakes, tires, exhaust, etc.
First thing I checked was the turbo pedastal and the hpop. Nothing. Then, I located the leak at a oil line that comes out of the passenger side rail and connects to a block-shaped fitting, next to another line, under the fuel housing. It's a braided s.s. line and it seems the casing is worn through and the line itself just burst. (Like a frozen pipe in winter) It shoots out oil like a pressure washer.
The lines pivot at the fitting and I'm wondering if anyone has had the same thing and could tell me what the job requires. What kind of fittings are they?
Thanks, Geoff

It's a high pressure oil line. I'd replace both lines if one has burst. Good preventative maintenance. The lines are available at Ford, the threaded connectors are separate part #'s. The lines snap on the connector.
If you can turn a wrench and sit up on the bumper, etc. you can replace them. No need to take anything off that I know of. One line and two connectors cost me $150.00.
