I have a 2001 7.3 I'm the original owner I have many parts on the truck never had any problems before..had the truck sitting for 2 years with a startup and driving for a few miles and that's it. Then all hell broke lose , had to change the following , icp, ipr, CPS, front calipers but that don't matter..I have a brand new starter it starts right up. But shuts off after a minute, if I keep the RPM up to 1600 it will idol longer. This is what's going on. Service engine soon on always, then water in fuel and wait to start all on just before shutting off. Then won't start, have to leave it for a while. Then it will start back up...don't know ?
Maybe water in fuel from sitting so long? The fuel bowl has a drain switch, **** or whatever you want to call it on the back of it. There is a tube that lets out on the passenger's side of the block. If you put an oil drain pan under there you should be able to catch it. Put pan down, flip yellow **** over, turn key on for a while and see what comes out. Start there and check back.
Oh, and welcome to FTE, the best place to get your information.

yeah I did that and I put new fuel in. You think my fuel filter can be the problem. Been meaning to change it..I did about a year ago. But only put 2 or 300 miles on...
Welcome to FTE! We're gonna need to see those codes to really get an idea of what's going on. Fortunately, it's gotten a lot cheaper since 2001 to read them yourself. The easiest way - IMHO - is to get a bluetooth OBDII transmitter and download Torque Pro for android for your phone. Some of us have had good luck with cheap clone OBD transmitters, while others, myself included, have gone with better ones such as
There is some setup for this, but it will provide you with a lot of useful info for troubleshooting your truck. Here's a link for a good thread on this forum for using Torque Pro.
