Just got new tires and was looking at them today and noticed my shocks (all four) have what looks like oil leaking from them (see attached picture). I thought F250s had gas charged shocks, but I could be mistaken. Since I just got the truck I don't know the maintenance history. They look like the stock shocks.
Truck has 124,000 miles so I assume that if they are indeed the stock shocks they need replacing.
Im looking at Fox 2.0 because they are rebuildable. I found a set on 4wheel parts. I need to know what the part number is for the front and for the rear. I cant seem to find that info anywhere. Can someone help me out? Here are the two sets I found on 4wheel parts:
what is the difference between these two? is one front and one rear? I just cant figure it out
Seems like an easy enough processes to replace the shocks, something I can do at home, is this the case? rent a spring compressor and swap everything out?
Don't know the difference, but I have better things to do than rebuild shocks when they are basically throw away items that can be swapped with quality new shocks probably quicker than you can rebuild them.
Check out fox's website, put in your vehicle and type of shock your interested in and it will list the part numbers. Also, check out stage3motorsports; they have awesome parts/prices on ford products FYI. I upgraded to 2.0s on my f150 and the ride is amazing. Got rancho 9000s to try for my 250, ready to go on next weekend.
980 24 646 is a front shock for a truck with 2-3.5 inches of lift.
980 24 652 is a front shock for a truck with 5.5-7 inches of lift.
The pics in the add look like a rear shock...Its common for a pic on a site to not be the exact item you are buying.....no worries
I'm currently running Fox 2.0 w/res on my 2011.....I've run Bilstein and Rancho on other trucks I like the Fox better....Mine were valved by Carli to match my lift so they are not a one size fits all deal I think that makes a difference.
Yes you can do this yourself in the driveway with basic hand tools, easy job !
Fox 2.0 shocks are an upgrade that cant be realized until you actually run them. Up here in Canada the fox and bilstiens are within $20 of each other for cost. Bilstiens are a great upgrade but the fox are an awesome upgrade! Being able to rebuild the fox is something most people wont do but for guys who are really into their suspensions this is a great option.

That is why I want them. Application specific equipment is always better than universal fit. I don't have a lift but I have heard a lot about carli and how great the 2.0 are with their valving. I'm sure bilstein and rancho are fine but having an application specific shock that's rebuildable and revalveable is what I'm after.
And thank you for the link to the fox catalogue Long Haul.

That's what I am hoping. I spend many long hours in the truck and want a great ride. everything I have read says buy fox shocks.
I've been told you can fox shocks custom valved from the factory through certain vendors. I would give them a call and tell them specifically how you plan to use the truck and go from there. Specifically http://www.f150lifts.com/ used to do this for 150s and they sell 250 parts also. The tech guys at stage 3 motorsports may be able to this as well, they're tech support is awesome. Having done the 2.0 changeover, I would seriously consider the 2.5 fox if you can spring for it. Either way though it's a significant step up.

Thanks for the advice. I think the 2.5s are overkill (in both use and price!) for what I'll be using the truck for. But getting a custom valved set of 2.0s is a good idea I will look into. I have several shops in my area that I will talk to.
Got my 2.0s and installed them yesterday. I'm not sure how other people install shocks but it wasn't easy. It wasn't complex but took a lot of physical effort and time. The fronts slide right in but the rears took a ton of effort because the shocks come extended.
My stock shocks were totally collapsed. Fronts would not extend on their own even after removing from the vehicle (see attached picture).
I took the truck on several roads that were very very rough before the 2.0s. It's still an F250, so it's still stiff but its ten times better than it was. Super happy I went with them. Excited to see how they hold up down the road.

i went with 4wheel parts. There were cheaper options but only on eBay and I would rather get them from a brick and mortar store I could go back to if I needed. My out the door price with CA sales tax was $557.66. Installed myself. I didn't think that was that bad at all. I think they are worth every penny. Ride is fantastic.
I have a '17 F-250 4x4 i want to put these fox shocks on, for a smoother street ride. The suspension hasn't been touched, meaning there's no lift on it, nor leveling kit. Should i get the 0-1.5 or the 2-3.5? I would like to level the front end out, and have heard it is possible to do this with just these shocks. Is this correct? Would the 2-3.5 essentially level it, as it is longer in length? Also, by "adjustable" does that mean the height can be changed from 0-1.5, etc. or is that stiffness adjustments? THANKS!
