Question I need new shocks

I am looking to replace the factory shocks on my 2001 Screw, I don't haul heavy loads just looking for a better shock, I am off road, farm, oil lease, fishing & hunting roads. I don't need high $ shocks just better than stock, looking at Pro-Comp ES3000 ES9000 or Rancho RS5000 or RSX, any body familiar & or have this set up, I know the Off Road package has the RS5000, thanx

well the pro comp and rancho shocks are high dollar, the rancho rs 5000 will be more than you need, but I think it is a good shock, you can also go to your local parts store and get a regular gas shock for about 20 dollars and it will work fine.

do you not think for another $10 the procomps or rancho would be worth it? why do you think the Rancho's are more than I need? I don't know @#$& about shocks, just look at the posts here & in catalogs. THANX

Yeah another 10 doaalrs is worth it. The ranchos are great, you just made it sound like you didn't do a whole lot of off roading. the ranchos are going to be a little stiffer than stock, but they will perform and last much better.

I have a 97 F150 4X4 standard cab/long bed. I put pro comp ES9000 shocks on it last year. They are firm, but not harsh. They ride well on the street. I don't off road as much as you, but do drive down unimproved two tracks to fish etc. I have not had any problems and have been generally happy with the shocks. I found them to be rather inexpensive. I bought mine online from Summit Racing for something around $34.00 a piece and they had a deal at the time for buy 3 get #4 for free. I have heard though that the rancho rsx is good, especially for various types of driving.

thanx for the reply, why did you go with the ES9000 instead of the ES3000, do you haul or tow? they seem like the same shock as far as reading the info, only another $2.50 a shock? the RSX's are about $52. a piece here in OK the Es 9000 are like you said about $34. Don't know if the $ is worth the Rancho RSX, they seem to be both nitrogen filled like the procomps, if you could switch, what would you do, or would you replace with the same? this is helping me alot since I have a small budget, 1 in kid in college & the other graduating this year

I chose the es9000 over the es3000 as I sometimes haul motorcycles in the bed and tow small boat. I also don't know if the es3000 is nitrogen filled. For two dollars more a shock I thought the es9000 was a better fit for me. I would have no problem replacing with the same shock. I will run the es9000 until they fail or my truck fails. Sounds like the es3000 might fit for your needs.

thanx again for the reply, if no one can comment on the Rancho's I guess the pro comps are for me, the 3000' are gas filled, the 9000's are nitrogen filled, so for $2.50 more I think they will last longer since they will be cooler, thanx again 12swat
