Yes it is. Maybe not welded but permanently attached.

I'm sure a handy sort could fabricate some kind of replacement, but it's true, they aren't designed for removal and replacement as a separate component.

Jeffafa, remember when the Green Hornet was doing the same thing? I replaced everything, even tried an electric fuel pump. Ended up buying a new gas tank, problem solved.

I bought mine mine from LMC. You'll have to torque down the center nut where the lead to the sending unit goes. It'll leak.

Mine are 20 gallons. The new LMC tank is 18. I had to monkey with the sending unit as my original was 19.5 gallons, I believe.

thanks! I may hold off on a new tank until I confirm this 360 is in decent shape. Still gotta get to the compression check. Hopefully tonight. What the rule for compression? None should be lower than 15% of the best one?

Correct. That is what I was taught in High School vocational Auto Mechanics circa 1973 1/2 TO 1975.

Ok the results are in. All cylinders came back between 110 - 117. Except Cylinder #4. 85-90.

Is it intake manifold vacuum air going in the valve cover or "blow by" air coming out?

Did you do a "wet" compression test also? Squirt about 4 heavy squirts of oil in the cylinders individually with an oil can then test each cylinder again. This oil will temporarily seal the rings if they are worn or broken.

it's vacuum. I plugged it and the truck idles good. Unplugged and it barley runs.

I did put a couple tsp of oil in the cylinder and it can up to 90. 83 was dry.

Hmmm. Intake vacuum in the crankcase. Sounds like a cracked intake. Which intake manifold is this? Original 2V intake? Swapped on Ford 4V? Swapped on aftermarket 4V? Do the gasket surfaces of it look like it was installed recently?
