Check for volume and pressure. Volume is easily checked. Direct the stream from the pump at idle into a container, should be at least a pint in 30 seconds or so.
Maybe the pinholes in fuel pickup line (inside tank) is more common than we think. Pulled my hair out trying to track "running out of gas" with half a tank of fuel down. Replacing the tank can solve a lot of problems. Also pull the sending unit and take a look see inside with a strong light, look for sludge and sediment.
I'm bettin' there is something wrong in both tanks. PO had trouble with one tank and then just used the other tank prolly.
In cab tank's sender takes a cork gasket Ford part number C1TF9276B.

The o-ring seal for the sender in the aux. frame mounted tank is still replaced by Ford. Part number C0AF9276A. Call your local dealer and see if they have it in stock. If not they won't want to order one for you because they come in a package of 10. If you can't get one local I have one in stock here and Green Sales has both of these part numbers in stock.

Thanks. Im gonna bypass the hard line from the tank to the pump and see how that goes. Then if that doesnt work maybe I'll try the aux tank on its own and see how that goes.

2X Ted on removing the fuel tank sender and looking down in there with a strong flashlight. I think if you do you will see what the problem is. Better to fix a problem rather than chasing your tail.

Sounds like old junk in old tanks. You could try hooking up a hose to your fuel pump then into a gas can. If the engine runs and can restart you may need to clean out your tanks.

ok so I was finally able to get back at this. Ultimately it wont pull gas from the main tank. It will pull from a gas can and run. im gonna remove the main tank and put the gas in it in the Aux tank and see if I can run it from that tank. Thanks for the ideas guys. Also Im noticing a ton of vacuum from the breather on the valve cover. Its not hooked up to the air cleaner. I have to plug it for the truck to run. Im gonna do a compression check later. Seems like it is missing on one cylinder.
There is a metal line that goes thru the frame below the cab tank. Mine had rubbed a hole in the metal line. The Graumet LOOKED good but it was ate up from the insid.
Currently I have all that bypassed. once I get some fuel in the aux tank Im gonna see if I can pull from that tank.If so Ill hook up and try and run through that line again and see what happens. Looks like the main tank is my first problem.
Good news. I removed the main tank and put the gas in the Aux tank plumbed it back into the line running to the pump and shes running. I took it out on the road and just went forward and reverse on my street. seems like its missing and the brakes are gonna need to be overhauled. Power steering is amazing. The transmission needs some attention. Takes a while for it to kick in to gear. Thanks for all your help guys. Now on to the next issue. Changing the starter and installing my new Holley 4bbl on my Highboy. Then back to this truck.

Congrats.
If that Holley 4V is going on an engine that was a 2V and with an A/T behind it you'll need Holley part number 20-41 kick down rod extender.
