The truck may get built by the said date; but..................there is shipping, and the railroad is VERY independent!! It might sit in some yard for 2 weeks, 100 miles away from the final destination, and there is absolutely NOTHING that you, the dealer, Trump, the Supreme Court or anyone else can do about it!!! It will sit until released to truck for dealer delivery!!! It sucks......
I can relate to that! My truck sat at the rail yard 100 miles away for nearly two weeks! But, I've forgotten all that since I've had my truck in my garage for two weeks now.
To the OP, I would wait it out for your original order. Not just out of respect for the dealer, but there were reasons you chose those options and not a Platinum (though they may have been your wife's reasons ). Don't jump the gun just to get the truck sooner.
Well I talked to my wife a little bit ago and although she is excited she agrees with you guys, give our order till the end of the month to get an ETA before we consider something else.
In the end.....it's your money! Nobody else's. Don't let anybody tell you what and what not to do with it.
If you like the platinum, then get it. Just don't spend 75-85k and regret it. It's a lot of money for truck, so make sure you're happy.
I was going to order a Lariat ultimate with msrp of 72k, but the dealer found me a platinum that I liked for 76k. They met all of my requests, even removed the plastic bed liner that I didn't want and had it delivered next day. Wife looked at me and said "what's another $3500 on a 70k truck." Never looked back.

Well I just got a call from another dealership, which I visited while doing test drives and they said they have a Magnetic Gray Platinum F450 that was built last week and has a delivery ETA to them in 2 weeks, and wanted to know if I was still in the market for this type of truck...
Should I try and talk my wife into the Platty, or patiently wait for the truck we ordered?
This other truck was built on 3/29 and the other dealer called me stating that they "EXPECT" it here in 2 weeks, and to see if I was interested in it.
Key word here is expect. Just be patient, I almost bought two other trucks instead of waiting for mine but I am so glad I waited... Nothing like having everything just the way you wanted!!
Who knows that other truck they expect to be in might just take longer than they expect and I'm sure they want you to go ahead and come on in and get the paperwork done so someone doesn't ****** it up. You'd really kick yourself if you had a contract on the other one and it actually took longer than the truck you ordered. Just putting a different perspective on things for you. Good luck and congratulations
You're the customer and it's your money. If you really want a Platinum and might regret the decision and take delivery of a Lariat(without massaging seats which both my wife and I love BTW) then you will kick yourself everyday. Did you put down a deposit and if so, if you back out the dealer should still refund it. I would ask.
I do not understand why there is a $7k different between your truck and the Platinum if you got every option that the Platinum has except a console vault which IIRC is a couple hundred dollars. Maybe I misread your post and you eliminated a bunch of stuff.
Just to give you a bit of an idea what it would look like
You're not helping, lol... I do love the look of your truck and use your pics to show everyone what mint will look like, except I tell them it has a different grill and chrome bumpers.
If you have the VIN number you should be in good shape if I were to "guess".
We are HOPING that this is true, the lack of an ETA for now 12 days after getting the VIN is the disconcerting part.

Yes we put a $500 non-refundable deposit on the order.
When we went to the dealership originally I was set on the Platinum, the only truck in stock to test drive were King Ranches (2 of them one a 350 DRW w 4.10's and the other a 450, so we could side by side compare and choose between the 350 or 450). My wife also looked at the interior of a Platinum 350 SRW just to see what is was like as I wanted that trim, and we also took a quick look at the Lariat so she could see the differences.
We went home and sat in from of the order sheet that details all the options and what's included. took each line item and talked if it was worth it to us and so forth. She was not "sold" on the massaging seats, thought they felt a little weird on the test drive of the KR, and said it was not upgrading just for the seats. We priced out a Lariat adding everything we would use, dropping off things like adaptive cruise as we never, even in multiple (5 to date) cross country RV/towing trips have ever used cruise control, much less an other time. So we dropped that from the list.
At the end of the day we chose, as a family to order the truck as follows, MSRP at 77765:
Be a man of your word and wait for the truck you ordered.
Day late and dollar short chicca. But, if your internet ***** are so big to doubt my word please read all posts in their entirety before posting stupid chit. I was very clear with the dealership when I placed my order up against this tight timeline, that if the truck we were ordering did not come in on time, I would need to look for another truck. Not going against my word at all, but standing by it. My comment and the reason for this post was about upgrading to the Platinum, and if I was jumping the gun on waiting to hear about my truck on order. Between the posts, and talking with my wife we decided to give our order till the end of the month to get an ETA before we look around at finding something on a lot somewhere. That too was posted before your blatantly disrespectful post.
I just got a call back from the second dealer that started this mess, this time it was a different salesperson. She said the guy that talked to me yesterday didn't realize that those (they have 2 coming in, a Lariat with limited options and the Platinum) were customer ordered trucks for her customers, lol... So, they are not available, I guess that makes my choices a lot easier, even though we chose to wait for ours, lol...
The funny thing is that I read a post on here like maybe a month or 2 ago of a guy who was waiting o his truck to have another salesman try and sell it before he could get it, then i'm now on the other side of that scenario. It's so strange that dealerships don't keep better tabs on what inventory is available or spoken for when it is coming in.
Why is your deposit "non-refundable?" I've never put a deposit down on a vehicle with it being non refundable.
Anyways......have you driven a truck with the adaptive cruise? I wasn't going to get it on my lariat ultimate, but I ended up getting the platinum ultimate and absolutely LOVE the adaptive cruise. Just don't knock it til you've tried it

The non-refundable was part of our "handshake" deal, if we backed out because of the truck being late, they keep it. I would hold true to that "deal" if I backed out for any other reason as well.
Also, in no way was I "knocking" or saying anything negative against the adaptive cruise. I just said WE, my wife and I, decided that the way WE drive, and that WE NEVER use cruise control, WE chose to not pay extra for the adaptive cruise.
