Trying to understand the numbers on Ford original steel 16 inch rims
So I've been trying to track down a matching set of factory Ford 8 lug steel rims for my 69 F250 4X4 (mounting a set of new 9:00X16 lug tires). In my search I've noticed they are stamped with numbers in the face of the rims...I'm trying to figure out what these numbers mean
Thank you!
Thank you!

I find references for three 16" F-250 wheels available in 1969. One is a 16" x 6" one piece drop center, and the other two are heavier duty two piece semi drop center 16" x 5.50F". These differ having "innie" or "outie" hub cap mountings. Rather than me rattle on with descriptions of all three, what are you wanting or trying to match? That 9" tire is pretty wide for any of them per the industry standards. Stu

2WD:
8.75" x 16.5" tire ~ 16.5" x 6.75" wheel: 1967/79 F250/350 Camper Special.
9.50" x 16.5" tire ~ 16.5" x 6.75" wheel = 1967/72 F350 Camper Special & 1973/79 Super Camper & Trailer Special (140" wheelbase, 2WD only).
There's no 9.00" x 16" tire listed for 4WD
No 4WD Camper Specials available until 1977.

Yeah Bill, I was silent to the 16.5" because he said 16". As you know I generally base my responses on wheel industry sources (backed up by Ford), but did just industry on this one because I don't have the Chassis Catalog for 1969. Does the 1969 Chassis Catalog not list any 16" wheels? I have NWRA, Budd, and K-H listings for the ones I cited. Stu
D5TZ-1007-C (replaced C7TZ-1015-C & D2TZ-1007-C & D3TZ-1007-A) .. 16" - 16.5" x 6.75" Wheel-Use with tubeless tires. Stamped: 91160 & 27850-3.
C7TZ-1015-C stamped: 84900 (riveted design) / D2TZ-1007-C stamped: 88550 / D3TZ-1007-A stamped: 88680.
Post #3: I only listed the 8.75" & 9.50" x 16.5" tire/wheel sizes because the OP wanted a wheel used with 9.00" x 16" tires (not listed in the parts catalogs).
There are other 16" wheels used with smaller tire sizes.

Okay, the 16" and 16.5" sizes are entirely different animals. The 16" wheel sizes are more correctly fitted with a 7.50-16" or similar metric sized tires. The wider of the 16.5" wheel sizes, that would be the Camper Special type wheels you mentioned, can within limits be fitted with the big off-road aftermarket tires. I didn't think that was what the o.p. was wanting to do. The o.p. might add some detail to his question so we know what he's after. Sometimes we need to read minds to know the what the question really is. Stu

I'd like to hear back on this from the o.p. The way the question was originally presented, for a 16" wheel, gave me the impression the info he's found on the faces of the wheels would perhaps be date codes, Budd part numbers, or the Goodyear or Firestone ring/rim codes on multi-parts that would be found on the outer rings.
If the wheels are 16.5s the only info I think to be found on the face side would be date codes and rim sizes. The Budd part numbers will normally be found along the concave sides' drop centers. Stu

Update, thanks for all of the excellent info guys. I took the easy way out and picked up a matched set of 4, 16inch by 7inch steel rims and a set of factory hubcaps. Had a buddy paint em today. Nice!
...this is now gonna be a 7inch wide rim, still looking at 9:00-16 mud/snow lug tire.
I'll get the numbers off these when I get em back.
