16 Inch Rims?

I have a 1973 F-100. It has 15 inch rims all around. In the back I run a very high profile tire.

Instead I want to go to 16 inch on the back, smaller profile tire, but I can not find 5 lug steel rims. Rims that are going to bolt right on and I and put those standard Ford hubcaps on.

Does anyone know where I can buy two? Website? Suggestions where to look?

D2TZ-1007-E .. 5 lug 5.50" bolt circle 'Outie' 16" wheel .50" offset / Obsolete

Optional: 1966/79 F100 2WD/4WD; 1966/79 Bronco; 1975/79 F150 2WD/4WD

This wheel is almost impossible to find because very few were installed.

'Outie' .. so called because the hubcap snaps over tabs located on the outside of the wheels center section.

1955/65 F100's were also available with an optional 16" wheel, but this is an "innie" wheel.

"Innie" .. so called because the hubcap snaps over tabs located on the inside of the wheels center section.

So I can't find that wheel anywhere, not even someone who makes it in the after market?

I think mine would be a innie, but can you tell by looking at my hub caps?

Summit lists quite a few options... including plain steel. Not sure about hubcap fit though.

No innie wheels for F100's after 1966. No F150 came with innie wheels.

Outie wheels introduced on F250's in 1967, but thru 1969, both innie & outie wheels were available.

No innie hubcap will fit an outie wheel and vice versa.

Your "About Me" profile says 1973 F150, but this is impossible, because there were no F150's until 1975.

I have a different style of those Wheel Vintiques in 15x7 on my Bronco. Been asked a few times if they fit the later hubcaps but I have not had a set to try yet.
Not sure what series they are, as the one in the link above looks slightly different in the center.

What about another year stock wheel? I would have thought that some of the later years came with 16's besides just the HD 8-lug versions. Or maybe not?
There are Dodge wheels too, that come in 16" with 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern. They have a hub-centric center that has to be machined out on 4wd Ford applications, but for your 2wd maybe not.

But I have a question on that bolt pattern. I've forgotten I guess, but didn't the 2wd trucks have the smaller pattern as well? I thought only the 4wd's of our vintage had the 5.5" size.
Incorrect? Been a long time since I sold wheels and tires and just can't remember. Maybe I'm thinking of other years, or perhaps other brands of trucks.

Thanks.
Good luck.

Paul

No F100/150 or Bronco was available w/a factory installed 16" 5 lug wheel on a 5.50" bolt circle after 1979.

There's no such thing as a 4WD only wheel. The same wheels were used on 2WD & 4WD

No F100 4WD's were assembled after 1976.

1980/83 F100's with manual brakes have 5 lug wheels on a 5.50" bolt circle. 1980/83 F100's with power brakes have 5 lug wheels on a 4.50" bolt circle.

All 1966/96 Bronco's and 1975/96 F150's have 5 lug wheels on a 5.50" bolt circle.

Yes it is a 1973 F-100. My profile is incorrect.

To you, does it look like I have a innie or outie rim on their now?

I will check Summitt. Thank you.

Wow! I haven't seen Sam's in about thirty years! Winston was one of the few places around me that had 16.5 tires back in the day...

I don't have X-ray vision, so I cannot see the wheel. Take a pic and post it once you remove the wheel covers.

Wheel covers cover most of the wheel, hub caps only cover the center of the wheel.

Since it's a '73, it should have 'outies' .. but since people love to swap parts around, will need to see the pic.

Thank you. You were most helpful.

So I am looking for a 5 x 5.50 outie that is 16". (I have 15" but want to go to a 16").

Which years and models did Ford put that 16" on vehicles?
