If anyone has plans of coming into this area of Calgary, think again. 17th ave se is getting ripped up this weekend and rumor has it that they're going to start at 36 st and take it to 68th. Parts of 17th will be shut down completely as the side dumps and excavators are coming in to do the big rip out and the clean up and detail dig will start on tuesday. Total construction hell here this weekend.
On a better note, the old timers races are on in High River, cars are mostly pre 1920 and they should be the fastest 40 mph races you'll ever see. Admission is cheap at $10, but don't expect to see more than 10 or 12 cars competing as they're hard cars to look after, should have a open pit lane and some cars on display. I have to work this weekend building a fence so I can't make it, will try to con my neighbor, his wife or kids to go out there.
