I get to deal with people who are going to be here in 5 minutes and show up 3 hours to 2 days later, it seems to be a really popular thing to do in this town.
In Vancouver, Winnipeg, Ottawa and the Toronto area you get written off as a flake for pulling that crap. Always learned that its better to be up front with someone than jerk them around. I turn down jobs if I know that I'm not in the shape to do them, most people respect me for doing that, others just start insulting me for being honest with them.
Well, went for a long drive yesterday and that code cleared itself and truck runs fine. Now Working on chasing down trailer brake and backup sensor issues. These are maddening
Now I know why I like old trucks, the only sensors that I deal with are my ears, smell, touch, sight and the bottom of my feet. If it doesn't work the problem is usually pretty obvious.
Just bought a 48 M68, was supposed to pick it up tonight but the tow truck driver pulled a no show. Comes with a Model T Touring shell, frame and an assortment of oddball parts.
I'm nominating the monkey to be our fearless chapter leader.
Midnite1987 and myself put our names in the hat a couple of months ago but I guess we're not sociably acceptable for the role.
Somehow I think I wouldn't be worthy of the chapter leader spot. Someone should put it to a vote or something I guess. Not very often two people will step up at the same time.
Might go look at a 66 F250 in the next week or so. Not to buy but to see why the guy thinks it worth 2750.00.
It was supposed to be my neighbors truck deal but he realized his skill set doesn't include old trucks so at the last minute he bought a 1100 Virago. The truck has a running 59a flathead and I've wanted a flat head Model T or A based hotrod most of my life. The truck will be a landscape truck and car hauler as it has a hoist.
We kind of had it decided that because I spend more time on here I would put in my name but count on him to let us know about Edmonton and area events and gtd's, who knows what goes on in the minds of the powers that be. LOL
I paid $900 for this find and its basically rust free, been years since I've laid out that much for a vehicle. At 2750 it would have to be in mint condition around me.
A few years ago I sold my two M100 pickups. One a 66 2wd and the other a 65 4x4. Granted they were far from perfect I got less than half of $2,750 for the pair and they went to Oklahoma.
Alberta like BC seems to be a hard sell for members (or at least active members). My time as leader we had one gtg in Kamloops. I think we had 5 or 6 guys show up. Things slowed down after that. I gave up the leader spot hoping someone could step up and bring in some more interest from some of the locals.
