I finally got my truck back on Monday after almost two weeks. The transmission was repaired / rebuilt and so far it seems to be working fine. After the first good interstate run it was smoking pretty good when I rolled up to the light at the exit ramp. Looked like a Cheech and Chong movie except the smoke was coming from under the truck (you older guys will get that reference). I pulled over and did not see any leaks and it appeared to be coming from the top of the muffler and converter mainly. I guess I hadn't driven it any distance sufficient to burn all of the transmission fluid from the initial failure off. I continued my run and the smoke subsided. The transmission temp was normal so hopefully that was the issue. Glad to be back in the saddle.
Did you get them to clean the underside of the truck and the trailer?
They were supposed to clean the truck. I looked under it when I picked it up and it looked pretty good. This must have been on the top side of the exhaust system - out of sight out of mind. The smoke and smell has subsided so it must have needed a good interstate blast pulling a trailer to burn it off. As far as the trailer goes, it never made it to the dealership. I dropped it in the driveway. I shouldn't have to lube the drop leg jacks, tool box hinges, or the sliding ratchets for a while. LOL.
