Here's a generic letter I got from the dealer this morning. I haven't received anything from Ford yet, which now is a moot point. Mine is a diesel. Sorry about the low-tech upload but it's the upper limit of my technical expertise.
From what I understood...it's diesel engines. My dad got the same one yesterday for his '17 built in Oct. and it's diesel. I'm sure I'll get one too...as they were built the same week.
I got a letter this AM, dealer had an opening and got me right in. No issue found. Good to go.
Just called my dealer. They should actually be installing some "washers" or something like that on the hold-down plate. It should not be an "inspection and go." If you read the letter, Ford wants this done to prevent leaks down the road.
My dealer was initially the same way - "let's get it in for an inspection..." I told him it was not leaking, I've been keeping an eye on it...but asked him to read. He agreed Ford wanted these parts to be installed.
Basically, the cooler lines are not held down as well as they were on the last generation trucks.

Update: I called the 1-866# on the letter and they confirmed what you had said. A washer and a support kit. They called my dealer to clarify the issue with the service dept. I take responsibility for my selective hearing here.... I heard only that it was not leaking and I was good to go. Didn't hear they had to order the parts to keep it that way. So, I recalled the Service Dept and yes, they ordered the parts and I did apologize for not hearing the whole story. Modification parts are on order and should be in tomorrow afternoon for install tomorrow or Friday.
Shortly after I got my truck, there was a 4"X4" puddle of pinkish fluid. I cleaned it up and looked under my truck. I saw no evidence of leaking anywhere near where I found the puddle (roughly where the bed meets the cab favoring the driver's side). It's been a month since then and I haven't seen anything, so I chalked it up to it being from my old truck.
Is this evidence that I'm having this issue? It's been a month since I've seen any fluid. The issue appears to be totally gone. For what it's worth, my build date is December 9th.
Look up the the bottom of the Bed/cab above the driveshaft at the transfer case and see if it wet. My transfer case has been leaking there, and going in for #4 to see if they can fix it, I will ask them to replace the t-case.

Got the letter today...got to find time to get in, not leaking as of now...
Get it in there ASAP man. Mine didn't give me any courtesy drips to warn of the impending s---sandwich coming my way. I am not real crazy about having a truck with 8500 miles and a rebuilt transmission. It's not the fact that the tech can't put it together good as new but just the principle of it, I guess.
Got my letter on Monday and am taking my F450 in tonight (Thursday) after work. The inspection and repair is apparently the O-RINGS on the transmission fluid cooler tubes.
Does anyone know what build date range this recall covers? Some of us would like some peace of mind that our truck is ok.
It was early-build trucks only. If your truck is affected, Ford will be sending you a letter. Alternately, you can register and log in at owner.ford.com
and you will be shown any recalls or campaigns that need to be completed on your vehicle. For example, my affected truck shows the transmission cooler tube repair needing to be completed.
Mine was built 13 October and I have received no notices. Ford Owners .com also shows no recalls or field service actions for my truck. I check underneath the truck every few days and the trans cooler lines are dry as a bone.
