Dash board

Andy

Looks like you are doing a fine job at putting that 50 dash in your truck. Nice and clean fit. Looks like you won't have a lot of bondo work to make it look good. Have fun grinding the welds.

I like it - dash makes the truck different from all the rest.

Dakota Digital makes a nice instrument cluster and clock for that dash.

Good job !!!

Dan,

Looks great! Your dash gives me alot of motivation to get mine finished up. Great minds think alike. What steering wheel is that? It's pretty much exactly what I wanted to go with too.

Dash Replacement

Andy

The steering wheel appears to be an older Grant steering wheel - got mine used so I don't really know for sure.

Your dash layout looks like you spent a lot of time laying it out. Appears to fit well. I took my time but I originally shortened my dash years ago. When I went to weld it in, I had failed to line up the gauge hole with the steering column.

I had to recut the dash and had to use a second dash for some of sections. So I have some straightening to do ( hammer and dolly work) to do before the dash is done. Looks good in the photo but it's still rough. Primered the dash to control rust and will get back to it in a month or so.

Looks like you got past the hardest part - cutting the dash. Once you get the filler pieces welded in, the grinding process will start.

Once it's done you will have a truly unique dash.

I believe there are three of us on FTE that have added the 49-50 Ford Passenger car dash.

I can't wait until mine is done and I can install a Dakota Digital dash and Clock.

Keep up the good work

Dan

Thanks for the kind words. It was quite a process to get the proportions right. It's a funny story. I pulled the dash out of a sedan that had been stuffed in the woods for a long time. I started with this dash becauseI didn't know if it was going to work. Once I realized it was going to look good, I had a decision to make. Either start over with a better dash or do a lot of sheet metal work. I decided to stick with it and it is turning out nice.

Here is the car it came from.
