Tips for switch removal, general working under the dash?

Anyone have tips for removing the switches on the dash? Particularly the ignition switch/starter button?

Any tips for working in such a confined space? I have most of the dash torn apart and have used more cuss words in the past week than I have in my life.

Only things left to remove from the cab of my '53:

Switches: Headlights/Wipers/Ignition
Start button
Wiper motor

Then I will finally be ready to pull the cab and send it across the street to my body man.

Thanks guys.

Take this for what its worth, my ignition switch is new repro. Spring pressure holds the switch bezel. Push into dash from the back, towards the dash, straight and firm. Then turn the chrome bezel counter-clockwise just a little. Don't know what to tell you about the "cramped" quarters. 1950's is about as good as it gets. Wait until you rewire and live under there for a week. If you don't get any feedback on the other stuff, I'll check my manual but real world experience is no doubt best.

Ok, it's break time. The ignition switch, starter button, wiper switch, and headlight switch have all been removed. Only thing left in the dash is a cig. lighter. Only things remaining under the dash is the wiper motor and hardware for the cowl ventilator.

Sounds like you got it whipped. While it's fresh in your mind, can you give me the order of everything in the dash from left to right? I believe Kevin told me and that's what I am wiring to, but one last verification would be comforting.

Well, from left to right as you are sitting behind the wheel in my 1953 F-250:

Start Button
Wipers
Headlight
Blank Spot (solid bezel)
Ignition Switch
Cig. Lighter

My truck never came with turn signals, guess it was an option in 1953.

The covered hole is where the throttle would be on the bigger trucks.
