Mild 390 build
Hello again yall. Im in a bit over my head here so i figured it would be a good idea to get some professional help. I got a new 390 build im wanting to slide into my daily driver (a 1973 f250 360 with a 3 on the tree and 3.7 rear dif) current plan is to slide cj valves into stock mid risers couple that to a cast iron pi intake with a 750 holly. Bump up compression up to 10 to 1 with flat tops( willing to run 93 ) slide in a hot cam ( any sudgestions?) run a msd electronic igniton kit. Stock oil pan but possibly a high flow oil pump. I have adjustable rockers and long tube truck headers. Im looking for about 400 hp and the same for torque. Thanks for helping yall.

I'm interested in anything you all have on this as well, I just bought a '76 F150 with a 390 in it and it seems she is pouring oil out of what I think to be several places, the rest of her has only minor issues.
Right now i'm sensing an engine rebuild looming in the moderately near future, so any help will be helping more than the one guy here!! Thanks for your time!!

Welcome to FTE to both of you.
On this first page alone there are 2 or more 390 build discussions. This forum is full of them, along with threads titled "360..." that end up 390 or bigger.
Also, did you stop in at the top and read the FAQ?
Headers, 9.5 compression, 390 GT or other fine cam, 650 to 750 CFM vacuum secondary carb.

That's very common for the FE blocks that have been running and or sitting for years.... you may just need to re-seal the whole block, which is very do-able, even with limited wrenching experience. I did mine this last fall on the weekends and its been an overall success. But first thing would be to compression test your cylinders and make sure that she doesn't need piston, rings etc.......
