So i have a 1972 f250 with a "stock" 390. From around my area truck pulls are quite popular. i pulled this truck all this season, which is now over and i have time to do a few mods to my truck. I was wondering what are some easier upgrades to do that wont cost me a fortune but will make a difference? In the stock class no headers are allowed. I already have a 750 edelbrock on there and an aluminum intake coming to get rid of the boat anchor that is on there. I was just curious what you guys think would make a noticeable difference and wont break the bank.
Not being allowed to run headers is definitly going to hurt you!! Headers and a 4 barrel carb are very good bolt on's for a 390. Like UTfball said your hands are tied, but a basic re-build is a good idea. Put in higher compression pistons and a bigger cam, but I'm guessing you won't be able to go too wild in the stock class. If you post up some of the rules this may help more knowledge minds than mine give you ideas.
