360 Build

Been through the forums for about 2 or 3 hours. And I got some good advice for my 360. What cam, intake, and headers would you guys recommend? I might do a 390 for another project; but for now I have my mind set on my 360. Would an intake from a 390 work on my 360?

I know you guys can help. Thanks

A couple hours on here and you should know:

--360 is hobbled by low compression ratio and "sunken piston" situation, so if you're going to do a 390, do it now.

--Almost all, if not all, the FE stuff interchanges.

--cam specs are provided by the cam mfg, and several posts here have some info.

--if you have a 390 4bbl manifold, that's good enough if you are staying 360. Use a 600 cfm carb.

--headers, whatever you can afford, longer tubes better. H pipe, twice pipes 2 1/4" to mufflers, 2 1/2 past.

--breakerless ignition.

How many miles on this 360? Everything working? No oil burning/leaks, excessive blowby, burned valves? Nothing brings out the effects of high miles like more hp and rpm.

There are a couple of threads where guys fiddled with their 360s and were happy with them. Intake/headers as I recall.

Good luck with it
