You can re use the factory housing as long as the number ends with a 91. And all diesel head form cracks or fissures. At least as long as I've been working on them. Diesel heads don't have the same type of issues as gas and gas is a lighter weight iron compound. The old Oldsmoblie diesel heads used to come back as being cracked from the machine shops and a old timer showed me why they should have never been deemed unusable. As I changed my automotive professions growing in the industry,I learned that this was the "norm" for all diesel heads. Don't get me wrong diesel heads do crack to the point of non use but many times they are OK.

Ah yes, the old 350 Olds diesel.
Gutless wonder but actually a pretty good engine if you took care of them.
But man, did the 0-60 time suck.
As for 8 degrees more heat, really it's a non issue. If you have a 6.0 that develops cracked heads as a result of running a Mishi, you had bigger problems before.
These trucks run 200* plus towing in hot weather for hours. Some folks in the hotter climates stick with stock, I can see that argument.
My stock t-stat on my 05 that I had for 10years ran consistently between 198 and 204 no matter the ambient. If when towing in the Sierras, if the temperature started getting too warm for comfort I would pull the gear shift down to 3rd and it'd cool down in minutes. Those gears are there for a reason.
